Job Description Summary
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with Senior Leaders across the organization and, will define, implement, and control a solid continuous improvement initiatives into the assigned project.
The Performance Engineer Intern is responsible for supporting issues regarding the thermodynamic response of an aircraft engine or aero-derivative gas turbine, with guidance.
Roles and Responsibilities
Collect and analyze data for assigned project
Use Lean tools to improve assigned project
Support the team on the development of Lean initiatives.
Support parametric studies regarding the interaction of the different components of the engine
Learn the effect of different ambient conditions and perturbations (efficiencies, flows) on the overall performance of the engine
Present investigations and results in forums with highly specialized professionals with clarity.
Make use of statistical tools to provide answers
Look for creative solutions and constantly find ways to improve quality and response time
Work within the guidelines of applicable GE Policies and Procedures, Engineering Standards, Design Customer Operating Procedures, Specifications, Government and Commercial Standards, and special security requirements
Document technical data generated to substantiate assigned components, assemblies, systems, and/or processes consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communication on significant issues to key stakeholders
Support the solution of problems of limited scope and complexity
Self-check of work
Required Qualifications
Aeronautical / Mechanical / Energy / Software Engineering student
Fluent in English (written and spoken); must be able to maintain a simple conversation and present to Senior Leadership
Background in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics & Statistics
Proven programming skills; computer skills in MS Office and at least one programming language (preferably C++ and/or Python)
Basic Statistics
Effective written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
Demonstrated ability in managing own projects
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational abilities
Experience with visual management tools is a plus
Accountable with a strong learning/continuous improvement mindset
Open team player with strong interpersonal skills
Full-time: 40 hours per week
Must have tax ID (RFC) and social security number (IMSS)
In-person work required at GEIQ offices in Querétaro, México
