**Psychologist (Master's) | Behavioral Support Therapist in Minnesota USA | TN Visa Sponsored | 60,000 USD**
**Recreational Therapist Positive Support Program | Affinity Care MN**
**Location**: Minnesota, United States
**Salary**: $60,000 USD per year
**Visa**: TN sponsorship for qualified Mexican psychologists
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, weekdays, autonomous calendar
**Commitment**: 3-year renewable contract
**Start date**: Open
**Read this before you apply**
This role is field work with people who have intellectual disabilities, autism, and co-occurring mental health conditions.
You drive to their homes.
You design behavior support plans.
You run therapeutic activities.
You write clinical documentation every day.
Two thirds of adults with autism and over a third of adults with intellectual disabilities live with a diagnosable mental health condition on top of their disability.
Depression.
Anxiety disorders.
Psychotic illness.
Impulse control conditions.
Your psychology training gets used in every session.
We need someone who already knows what a depressive episode looks like in a non-verbal adult.
Someone who has worked with aggression rooted in untreated anxiety.
Someone who has held space for a client in a psychiatric crisis without a supervisor in the room.
**If you have a Master's degree and zero direct mental health hours, this is not your role.
**
**The work**
You serve children, teens, and adults from ages 8 to 75.
Some live with family.
Some live in group homes.
Some live in hoarding conditions or unclean environments.
A few have complex histories including being on the sexual registry.
**Your day looks like this**:
- Drive to 3 or 4 client locations across the service area
- Run recreational therapy sessions aligned with each client's behavior support plan

- Document everything before you leave the field
- Coordinate with families, group home staff, and the clinical team
- Adjust your approach when behaviors escalate or a mental health symptom presents
You report your hours.
You manage your calendar.
No supervisor reviews your inbox at the end of each day.
Your work shows up in client engagement, incident reduction, and how clients feel after their sessions with you.
**Who we need**
Two of our top performers, Estefania and Adriana, set the bar for this role.
They share four traits we now hire for directly:
- Direct mental health experience before they joined us.
Not academic theory.
Real hours with real clients in distress
- They show up early.
Never idle.
Always preparing
- They adapt fast when a client has a hard day
- They write documentation the same day, never three days later
**We need one more like them.
**
Minimum requirements
- Master's degree in Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or Special Education with ABA or PBS focus
- Mexican Cédula Professional at Master's level, current and complete (not pending, not in progress)
- Documented direct mental health hours with IDD, ASD, or behavioral populations (clinical placements count, observation does not)
- B2 to C1 spoken English (clients with hearing, learning, or cognitive challenges must understand you the first time)
- Valid Mexican driver's license and comfort driving daily
- TN visa eligibility with no prior US visa denials

- Willingness to commit to a 3-year renewable contract
You think about your clients on your day off.
You finished what you started in your career.
Your Cédula is done.
Your thesis is done.
The projects you signed up for were delivered.
You take notes during a behavioral incident, not three hours later from memory.
You know the difference between a manic episode and an anxiety attack in a verbal client.
You know what catatonia looks like.
You have de-escalated aggression at least once with no supervisor in the room.
Your motivation has more to do with the population than with leaving Mexico.
- You see this as one or two years of US experience to put on your resume
- You are running from burnout at your current job
- You expect this work to be calmer than clinical psychology
- You only worked with cooperative, motivated, verbal clients
- You consider documentation a burden
- Your Master's thesis or Cédula has been incomplete for over a year
- You cannot describe a real mental health condition you have managed in a client, without preparation
**Compensation**
- $60,000 USD annual salary
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan with 6% employer match
- Paid time off and US holidays
- TN visa sponsorship for the principal applicant
- Relocation support including initial housing assistance
- $500 onboarding allowance for first
- 12 weeks essentials
**Minnesota reality check**
Winters drop to minus 20 Celsius for weeks at a time.
You drive to clients in those conditions.
You walk from your car to their door.
You scrape ice off your windshield before every visit.
Mexico City cold is not Minnesota cold.
