Why candidates should join This is a chance to join a growing global research business that is expanding its footprint into Latin America and building presence in markets that are highly engaged but less directly covered by its core offices. The role offers a high level of autonomy, direct ownership of assigned markets, and the opportunity to become a subject matter expert while building relationships with leading lawyers and firms.

It is also attractive for someone who wants to work on a visible product that supports rankings, awards and market intelligence used by law firms to win and retain business. There is clear scope to contribute ideas, improve processes and help shape coverage as the business grows.

About The Role About the Opportunity Our client is a global provider of practice-area research, rankings, and business intelligence trusted by thousands of law firms and in-house legal teams worldwide to benchmark expertise, win new business, and select outside counsel. Backed by private equity and on an active growth trajectory — including recent acquisitions that have expanded its portfolio — the business operates from international hubs across Europe, North America, and Asia, and is now building new regional teams in Latin America, Africa, and Asia for the first time. This Mexico City hire is part of that first-ever expansion into Latin America.

You won't be joining an established local office — you'll be a founding member of a brand-new regional presence, with genuine ownership over how it takes shape.

We're recruiting confidentially on our client's behalf and cannot disclose their name at this stage — full details are shared with shortlisted candidates.

The Role As a Senior Research Analyst, you'll lead research execution across an assigned set of jurisdictions and practice areas, producing high-quality analysis of law firm submissions, practitioner interviews, and survey data that feeds directly into market-leading rankings, editorial insight, and awards decisions. You'll work with genuine autonomy — owning your corner of the market — while also shaping the quality and consistency of a small team's day-to-day output.

This is a rare opportunity to build deep subject-matter expertise, develop direct relationships with senior lawyers and managing partners at leading general law firms, and help stand up a new market from the ground floor.

What You'll Do

- Lead comprehensive market research and competitive analysis across your assigned jurisdictions and practice areas, using submissions, interviews, survey data, and independent sources.
- Interview practice heads and senior practitioners, building lasting relationships with market participants.
- Prepare evidence-based ranking proposals and awards recommendations for review and sign-off.
- Own the day-to-day quality of a small team's workflows, trackers, and deadlines, with informal mentoring of junior colleagues.
- Produce clear research summaries, briefings, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

- Contribute to the wider strategy as the business expands its research coverage into new markets.

What We're Looking For

- 4+ years' experience in market research, competitive intelligence, KPO/LPO, journalism, or a similar analytical, client-facing role — exceptional candidates with slightly less experience are still encouraged to apply. A legal background is a plus, not a requirement — we're looking for intellectual curiosity and strong analytical instincts above all else.
- Genuine comfort engaging directly with senior stakeholders — interviewing, building relationships, and representing the brand externally.
- A self-starter who can work autonomously with large volumes of data, while collaborating well within a small team.
- Excellent written and spoken English; strong organizational and stakeholder-management skills.
- Based in the Mexico City metropolitan area.
- Willingness to work core hours aligned with the Americas business day.

A Strong Plus (not Required)

- Fluent Spanish.
- Fluent Portuguese.
- Familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and tools like Power BI or Tableau.

What's On Offer

- A competitive, market-aligned salary paid in Mexican pesos, plus statutory Mexican benefits (IMSS, Aguinaldo, Infonavit, AFORE, paid vacation, and more) — full package details shared during the process.
- Genuine autonomy and ownership from day one, with a clear path to becoming a recognized subject-matter expert in your field.
- The chance to help build a brand-new regional team from scratch, backed by a well-funded, actively growing global business.
- Hybrid working, based in Mexico City.
