Senior Software Engineer II – Java Full Stack

Employment Type: Full-time A leading general information and analytics organisation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-native applications supporting innovative healthcare products and platforms worldwide.

This role combines hands-on software engineering with technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across engineering, architecture, product, and business teams. The successful candidate will work with modern cloud technologies, distributed systems, microservices, and AI-assisted development tools while helping drive engineering best practices and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable applications and services using modern engineering practices.
- Develop and maintain cloud-native, distributed, and microservices-based solutions.
- Collaborate with architects, product managers, developers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and optimise application reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Develop and review detailed technical specifications for complex systems.
- Establish and promote coding standards, development processes, code reviews, and engineering best practices.
- Work across Agile and Waterfall development environments.
- Design and maintain complex data models while ensuring data integrity, scalability, and performance.
- Work with cloud-based and distributed systems to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Mentor and support less-experienced engineers and contribute to their technical development.
- Contribute to architecture, development, and engineering process improvements.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, software engineering practices, and industry trends.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and delivery.

Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience.




- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced experience with Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and React .
- Strong experience designing and maintaining microservices architectures .
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes/EKS .
- Advanced knowledge of AWS , including ECS/Fargate, EKS, S3, Lambda, and RDS.
- Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, scalability, performance optimisation, and cost management.
- Advanced experience with CI/CD pipelines , including GitHub Actions or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of modern software delivery practices, including trunk-based development, automated deployments, and progressive delivery.
- Experience with API Gateway technologies and authentication/authorisation frameworks such as OAuth, JWT, Kong, or Keycloak.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic, Coralogix, OpenTelemetry, and Grafana.
- Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modelling, and query optimisation.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated quality gates.
- Working knowledge of event-driven and streaming technologies such as Kafka.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external technology teams.
