Client: Our client is a leading player in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) sector, specializing in the commercialization of pork and poultry products. They are seeking to enhance their data capabilities through advanced predictive modeling.
- Project overview: The project involves developing three predictive models aimed at optimizing pricing strategies and purchase predictions for various market segments within specific geographic areas. The models include:
- Price trend prediction for commodities at a provincial level.
- Suggested pricing models by micro-zone, incorporating socio-demographic variables.
- Purchase prediction models focusing on identifying strategic SKUs based on historical behavior.
Technology stack: Python and Pyspark; potential use of Databricks
- Responsibilities: Lead end-to-end data science projects, from problem framing and data exploration to model development and deployment
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate them into analytical problems
- Develop machine learning models to project price trends, suggest pricing by micro-zones, and predict purchase behaviors
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and best practices
- Present findings, models, and actionable insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies in data science and artificial intelligence
- Requirements: Minimum of 3 years of experience in developing predictive models in end-to-end production environments, preferably in a consulting context
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with Pyspark
- Solid knowledge of statistics, machine learning techniques, and data modeling
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational and non-relational databases
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Experience in developing models for price prediction, pricing suggestions, and purchase predictions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and business acumen, with the ability to see the bigger picture and connect data to business impact
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Nice to have: Willingness to undertake business trips at least one week per month
- Availability to work some overtime, with a maximum of 10 hours per month
