Tijuana

**World Renowned Cellular Performance Institute looking for a Senior Staff Scientist**
The Cellular Performance Institute, located in Playas de Tijuana, is seeking a visionary, hands-on computational leader to spearhead daily bioinformatic activities and innovation in silico deep genomic bioinformatics and oligonucleotide therapeutic design (preferred is a plus). This role is adecuado for a scientist who thrives at the intersection of algorithm development, large-scale genomic and proteomics data mining, and translational therapeutics.
As a Senior Scientist, you will architect and execute end-to-end computational pipelines—from target discovery and sequence optimization to off-target prediction—leveraging Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) datasets. You will collaborate closely with wet-lab, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure computational insights directly accelerate IND-enabling studies and precision medicine programs.
We are considered by many to be the world's premiere facility for stem cell treatments and manufacturing. Our weekly stream of clientele include professional athletes from the UFC, NFL, MLB and more.
**Responsibilities**:
- Design, implement, and maintain reproducible, version-controlled pipelines for:
- Target selection and prioritization
- Thermodynamic modeling of oligonucleotide interactions
- Off-target scanning and specificity prediction
- Process and interpret WES/WGS datasets using GATK, BWA, SAMtools, VEP to identify patient-specific variants, biomarkers, and therapeutic targets.
- Integrate ML/AI models (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) for predictive analytics, target scoring, and pipeline optimization.

- Containerize workflows with Docker/Singularity and orchestrate them using Snakemake or Nextflow for scalability and reproducibility.
**Cross-functional collaboration**:
- Partner with wet-lab scientists to validate in silico predictions through cell-based and in vivo assays.
- Support IND-enabling studies by delivering computational evidence packages and contributing to regulatory documentation.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to integrate pharmacogenomic and transcriptomic data into therapeutic design.
**Specialized expertise**:
- Develop novel computational frameworks for multi-target oligonucleotide design and multi-omics integration.
**Leadership and strategic impact**:
- Mentor junior bioinformaticians and computational scientists, fostering a culture of scientific rigor and innovation.
- Troubleshoot technical bottlenecks, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
- Contribute to high-impact publications, patents, and grant proposals.
- Drive strategic pipeline innovations to maintain CPI’s competitive edge in oligo therapeutics.
**Core technologies and tool**:
- ViennaRNA Package, NUPACK, RNAstructure & OligoWalk, Sfold, OligoArray, IntaRNA, Primer3.
- Biopython, BioPerl, Bowtie, BWA, GATK, SAMtools, VEP.

- PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology,

Molecular Biology, or related field
- 6+ years leading computational genomics, multi-omics, or therapeutic discovery initiatives
- Proven expertise in in silico oligonucleotide therapeutic design and WES/WGS bioinformatics
- Proficiency in Python 3 (preferred), R, and Linux command-line environments
- Demonstrated success with open-source and commercial modeling tools and workflow managers
- Track record of high-impact publications, patents, or IND-enabling contributions
- Experience mentoring teams and managing multi-stakeholder, cross-disciplinary projects
- Strategic expertise in ML/AI integration into bioinformatic pipelines
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Experience with regulatory-compliant workflows (CLIA, CAP)
- Familiarity with pharmacogenomics, transcriptomic integration, and clinical data analysis
- Prior involvement in IND filings, clinical trial analytics, or ML-driven variant classification
- Experience with AI/ML-driven target prediction or pipeline optimization
**What we offer**:
- A mission-driven environment at the forefront of precision oligo therapeutics.
- Access to high-performance computing clusters and a collaborative scientific network.
- Competitive compensation, equity packages, and comprehensive benefits.
- Clear pathways for career advancement, leadership roles, and publication support.
Pay: $31,081.20 per month
Application Question(s):
