**Position Summary**
The Discrete Event Simulation (DES) Lead will be responsible for developing and deploying Vertiv’s integral factory simulation and digital twin capabilities. This role serves as the technical authority for manufacturing system modeling, capacity planning, bottleneck analysis, staffing optimization, and scenario-based decision support across all production facilities.
The DES Lead will establish and maintain general simulation standards, create scalable simulation architectures, and ensure simulation is integrated into the NPDI process, manufacturing process design, and factory transformation initiatives. The role will leverage discrete event simulation platforms (Simio or equivalent), operational data, manufacturing Bills of Process (BoP), and digital manufacturing ecosystems to create accurate predictive models that support investment decisions, capacity expansion, labor planning, and operational excellence.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Global Simulation Strategy & Leadership**
- Develop and execute the global DES and Digital Twin roadmap.
- Establish simulation governance, standards, templates, and modeling best practices.
- Lead the global deployment of simulation capabilities across all manufacturing sites.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor for factory design, capacity planning, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Build and mentor a global simulation community of practice.
**Manufacturing System Modeling**
- Create and maintain discrete event simulation models for assembly, fabrication, test, logistics, warehousing, and material flow operations.
- Model manufacturing throughput, work-in-process (WIP), cycle time, lead time, resource utilization, and bottlenecks.
- Evaluate production scenarios prior to physical implementation.
- Develop predictive models supporting demand fluctuations,

staffing strategies, automation investments, and capital planning.
**Factory Design & Capacity Planning**
- Support greenfield and brownfield manufacturing facility development.
- Validate manufacturing capacity prior to production launch.
- Analyze production constraints and recommend system improvements.
- Quantify the impact of process changes before implementation.
- Provide simulation-based justification for capital expenditures and automation investments.
**Digital Twin Development**
- Lead the evolution of factory simulation models into real-time digital twins.
- Integrate simulation environments with ERP, Ignition, IoT devices, video analytics, and operational datasets.
- Develop simulation architectures capable of continuous operational feedback.
- Collaborate with OT, IT, Data Science, and Automation teams to enable predictive manufacturing capabilities.
**NPDI & Manufacturing Process Design**
- Ensure DES is implemented as a required deliverable within manufacturing process design and NPDI activities.
- Support manufacturing engineers in validating process designs before launch.
- Collaborate with Process Design Engineers, AME teams, Product Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain functions.
- Drive simulation adoption during virtual prototype, virtual build, and manufacturing readiness reviews.
