Job Profile Summary:
Essential duties include the following:
- Perform accurate recording of agency financial transactions and reporting using the Agency Management System (AMS 360).
- Reconcile direct bill carrier statements and downloads.
- Prepare and review internal and external commission calculations, statements, and corresponding journal entries.
- Resolve policy and payment discrepancies by working with the operations team and carriers.
- Prepare monthly payments to insurance and brokerage companies.
- Perform monthly closing process and prepare various month-end journal entries and supporting documentation.
- Maintain integrity of balance sheet accounts through preparation and review of reconciliations, verifying account activity and balances for accuracy and reasonableness.
Works with other departments to clear reconciling items in a timely manner.
- Assist with year-end processes including W-9 and **** annual requirements.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc management reporting.
- Responsible for drafting new or updating accounting process narratives, flow charts, control matrixes, and job manuals.
- Collaborate with the division accounting team to identify processes that can be streamlined or automated and propose solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Assist with the development of processes and documentation for new or recently implemented accounting pronouncements.
- Gather audit support for internal and external audit requests.
- Review audit support provided by operations against the auditor requests to ensure accuracy of support and that the requests are completed in their entirety.
- Perform a variety of accounting projects or other duties, as requested by management.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or four-year university required.
- At least three (3) years' experience in general accounting and financial preparation.
- Strong general ledger software and Microsoft Excel skills.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills to oversee multiple work assignments.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate both verbally and in writing with senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management, exercising discretion and independent judgment while performing duties with limited supervision.
- Strong working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Agency accounting experience preferred.
- Able lift *****lbs of boxes containing accounting documentation.
