The team you will be a part of
Senior Analyst MX Import Operations will work as part of Whirlpool’s Transportation and Trade Compliance team,collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to drive strategic improvements of Whirlpool’s import operations for our Mexico manufacturing plants. The person in this role will work closely with Whirlpool’s
logistics partners, customs brokers, overseas suppliers and various Whirlpool functions to optimize our import performance. Responsibilities will include oversight and accountability for our operations, our budget, continuous improvement, cost saving initiatives and speed & efficiency of overall processes.
This role in summary
This position is responsible for overseeing and improving operations involving Whirlpool’s Customs Brokers, Logistics Providers, External Warehouses, and Whirlpool process partners on the importation of components for Whirlpool Mexico’s manufacturing facilities from overseas suppliers. You will be responsible for driving strategic transformation involving North American import operations to include end to end ownership from point of origin through delivery to final destination. Responsibilities will be heavily focused on optimizing our import operations while identifying and leading initiatives to mitigate non-standard spend. You will be required to strategically balance service objectives, cost reduction initiatives, inventory management, customer needs, and removing constraints to achieve optimal results. This role will require collaboration and leadership with third party logistics providers, overseas suppliers, and various Whirlpool functions.
This position will also serve as backup to the other members of the group as needed and work collectively with other International Operations team members on identifying and implementing process improvements.
Your responsibilities will include
Champion Flawless Execution of Operations: Collaborate with logistics / warehousing operations, manufacturing, material planning, foreign trade, purchasing, finance, carriers, customs brokers and 3PL’s to exceed business goals. Strategically balance service objectives, cost reduction initiatives,
inventory management, production scheduling and capacity constraints to achieve optimal results.
Guide and Consult process partners: Support others through education on import operations to facilitate process partner initiatives. Lead efforts to improve Intransit reporting and visibility to support operations and financial reporting.
Lead Issue Resolution: Investigate root cause and drive corrective actions to meet or exceed our KPIs.
Coordinate resolution of issues with our internal and external process partners ( suppliers, ocean carriers, foreign trade, VMI warehouses, manufacturing factories, freight forwarders, customs brokers and Whirlpool material planning).
Optimize Performance: Introduce efficiency and effectiveness in areas jeopardizing best cost and service.
Leverage Data for Success: Utilize strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for improvement,
implement data-driven solutions, and measure the impact of your initiatives.
Promote Exceptional Customer Service: Role model behavior for coworkers and process partners for strong communication and a sense of urgency, prompt responses and value added thought leadership.
Facilitate, Reinforce and Bolster Financial Reporting and Budget: Oversee and optimize $30M+ budget covering transportation spend involving ocean carriers, NVOs, manufacturing plants and vendor managed warehouses. Gather necessary information to create accurate financial outlooks of spend,
analyze gaps, and monitor/mitigate non-standard spend.
Lead Innovation: Cross collaborate with our process partners to identify improvements and spearhead implementation of initiatives to enhance import operations,
reduce costs, and elevate service levels.
Drive Strategic Transformation: Play a pivotal role in annual and ongoing transportation bids with our carriers and Procurement and gather best in class operational processes that can positively influence our import transportation strategy.
Strengthen Succession Planning: Cross train on all operations (custom classification, carte porte, freight invoice processing, shipping instructions, Fed Ex labeling, expedites, carrier allocations) to lend support as needed to colleagues.
Minimum requirements
Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, logistics, business management or related field
Demonstrated Job History at the same company for 2+ years
Ability to work in professional manner in the office
Strong communication skills including formal and informal and both written and verbal
English and Spanish language proficiency
Preferred skills and experiences
In depth knowledge of import operations and international transportation for Mexico Importation
Strong problem solving skills and resourcefulness for resolution and finding subject matter experts (SMEs) to assist
Financial knowledge of budget management, outlooking future spend and gap analysis
Demonstrated service-oriented attitude and proactive approach to tasks
Ability to work independently and properly prioritize workloads and other assignment
Ability to multi-task timely/accurately with strong organization skills and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate cross functionally
Ability to make sound fact-based decisions in a timely manner even in the face of ambiguity
Ability to think strategically
Strong communication skills with leadership and process partners to promote collaboration
Project Management skills
Strong working knowledge of computers and software including: Google tools / MS Office apps
International / multicultural experience is desirable
