Overview We’re hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer (Security‑Focused) to join Flex’s engineering team supporting Xylem/Sensus, a general leader in smart metering technologies for water and energy.
Responsibilities Design and implement embedded security protocols (RSA, ECC, AES, Secure Boot, firmware signing, etc.)
Enable and integrate hardware cryptographic accelerators
Ensure compliance with security standards such as NIST, FIPS, ISO/IEC 27001
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define secure system architectures
Conduct code reviews, threat modeling, and validation for security‑critical code
Support the full firmware development lifecycle from requirements to testing and deployment
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering or related field




5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development using C (bare metal or RTOS)
Strong knowledge of public‑key cryptography and secure protocols (TLS/DTLS)
Experience with secure microcontrollers/SoCs (e.g. ARM TrustZone, ATECC)
Familiarity with firmware validation, debugging tools, and version control systems
Bonus: Experience with secure OTA updates, device authentication, and anti‑tampering mechanisms
