About the Role

New Fortress Energy is seeking an experienced tax professional to join our Mexico City team. This position will lead the U.S. GAAP income tax accounting and reporting process for our Mexico operations and serve as a key liaison between the Mexico Tax and Controllership teams and U.S. Corporate Tax and Financial Reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with ASC 740, Mexican tax requirements, and tax reporting within a multinational or public-company environment.

As Senior Manager, Tax Accounting , you will play a key role in NFE's Mexico tax organization, leading the tax accounting and reporting process while working closely with the Mexico Tax and Controllership teams and NFE's U.S.-based Corporate Tax and Financial Reporting teams.

What you will do

Lead the quarterly and annual U.S. GAAP income tax provision (ASC 740) process for NFE's Mexico operations, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, and valuation allowance assessments.
Maintain and strengthen tax-related SOX internal controls and supporting documentation for the Mexico tax reporting process.
Partner closely with the Integral Tax Provision and Financial Reporting teams in the U.S. to ensure consistent application of ASC 740 methodology and timely consolidation of local tax data.
Assist with the preparation and filing of Mexican statutory financial statements and tax returns , ensuring alignment between local reporting and U.S. GAAP tax reporting.
Serve as the primary technical bridge between Mexican local GAAP and U.S. GAAP tax reporting , resolving book-to-tax and statutory-to-U.S.



GAAP differences in partnership with Mexico Controllership.
Proactively identify and escalate emerging tax positions, technical matters, risks, and timing issues to the Mexico Tax Director and U.S. Corporate Tax team well ahead of quarter- and year-end deadlines.
Coordinate across Mexico Controllership, Mexico Tax, and U.S. Corporate Tax/Reporting on the integrated close and tax calendar, ensuring cross-functional dependencies, deliverables, and deadlines are appropriately managed.
Support continuous improvement of tax accounting processes, controls, and reporting, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy through ERP and tax technology solutions.

What You Bring

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related field ; CPA, Contador Público Certificado, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
8–15 years of progressive tax accounting and financial reporting experience , including significant hands-on U.S. GAAP income tax accounting experience gained within a multinational or SEC-registrant environment.
Strong knowledge and practical experience with ASC 740 , including income tax provision preparation, current and deferred tax calculations, valuation allowances, and effective tax rate reconciliations.
Strong knowledge of Mexican tax law and compliance requirements ,



including ISR, IVA, statutory reporting, and other applicable filing obligations.
Experience working within a multinational corporate structure and supporting U.S. parent-company reporting requirements.
Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP and tax automation/workflow tools, with the ability to leverage technology to streamline tax provision and reporting processes.
Familiarity with SOX internal controls and public-company reporting requirements .
Experience with tax compliance and provision software such as OneSource is preferred.
Fluency in English and Spanish , with the ability to communicate effectively with both Mexico- and U.S.-based teams.
Strong analytical, organizational, and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across jurisdictions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, external auditors, advisors, and tax authorities.
Proven ability to build effective working relationships across Mexico and U.S. teams , including regular and structured communication with New York-based Corporate Tax, Controllership, and Reporting teams.
Demonstrated ability to identify and raise open items, technical matters, and potential risks proactively , well ahead of filing and reporting deadlines.
Strong team orientation and a collaborative communication style, with the ability to work constructively in a cross-functional environment.
Impeccable integrity, sound judgment, and a strong personal work ethic.
