Insurgentes Sur 1458, Actipan, Benito Juárez, 03230 Ciudad de México, CDMX Project Duration: 6 months with possible extension to 12 months Contract Type: Full-time Target Start Date: Immediate (1st september) Role: API Designer City: Mexico City | Country: Mexico Role Overview: Requirements analysis and understanding with business and IT areas: Understanding use cases, dependencies, NFRs, and success criteria. Mapping projects within the organization's ecosystem: Understanding domains, source/target systems, involved teams, and future API usage. Designing low-level design focused on components/APIs: Required under an API-First approach and using API-Led as the integration methodology. Defining design patterns: Understanding key concepts such as versioning, pagination, error modeling, idempotence, limits, etc. Ensuring API security mechanisms: OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, etc., and authorization guidelines. Must-Have Skills: API Design: REST, SOAP, GraphQL, and Swagger/RAML contracts (hands-on). API First, API Led, and basic DDD. REST API design standards. Security: OAuth 2.0/OIDC, JWT,
API keys, mTLS, scopes. Modeling/Diagrams: UML (Context, components, and sequences). Draw.io and/or Visio. API Governance: Lifecycle, validation, contract review, API catalogs. API Management Platforms: Proxy concepts, policies, environments. Tools: Draw.io, Confluence, Office 365 Desirable Knowledge: GraphQL and Async APIs. Observational APIs (logging, metrics, etc.). Apigee as an API Management tool. Experience with API portals/catalogs and marketplaces. Experience 5-8 years in API design and integrations 2 years working with API Management platforms. Soft Skills: Consultative profile: Ability to facilitate business and IT collaboration Technical Thinking: Understands the big picture and can get down to technical detail when required. Clear communication: Turn requirements into artifacts and next steps. Product orientation: Pragmatic, avoids over-engineering, understands the business at a high level. Collaboration: Experience working with multidisciplinary teams Analytical skills (conceptual power) Working under pressure and stress management
