Teacher Job Description
Mountain Valley Community School (MVCS) is seeking an anticipated 8th Grade English Language Arts Teacherfor the 2026–2027 school year.
MVCS is a unified PreK–8 school serving approximately 830 students in a vibrant, collaborative school community. We are looking for an educator who is committed to building strong relationships with students, creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment, and helping all students grow as readers, writers, thinkers, and communicators.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging, standards-based instruction in 8th Grade English Language Arts.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel known, supported, and challenged.
- Use assessment and student data to guide instruction and provide appropriate interventions and enrichment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support student learning and the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
- Communicate effectively and positively with families.
- Participate in professional learning and contribute to the continued development of MVCS as a unified PreK–8 learning community.
- Support the school’s commitment to Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity.
- Familiarity with BARR, Building Assets, Reducing Risks, is preferred.
Qualifications
- Maine certification in English Language Arts at the appropriate grade level.
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to collaborative practice and ongoing professional growth.
- Experience working with middle school students preferred.
