The Mechanical Engineer I is responsible for applying knowledge of engineering principles and practices in mechanical sustaining issue that have low to medium complexity. This position focuses on electro-mechanical system design requiring knowledge of power transmission principles, strengths of materials, statics, dynamics and material science.
The primary responsibilities include CAD modeling, tolerance analysis, drafting and bill of material creation. The Mechanical Engineer I role will have some cross-functional responsibilities in the context of Productivity and VA/VE analysis.
The Mechanical Engineer I will have the ability to resolve and implement corrective action steps when technical problems occur. This position will regularly interact and coordinate with Electrical Engineering, Technical Communications, Marketing, Manufacturing Personnel, Regulatory and Outside Vendors.
- Apply basic level cad software knowledge (Creo, Solid Works, AutoCAD) when drafting cad components or assemblies
- Participate on the creation of prototypes, mockups,
or representations to illustrate concepts and ideas
- Draft engineering validation test plans applying basics of FMEA, FEA, tolerance stack up analysis and statistical analysis tools to draft test plans.
- Collaborate on the validation plan execution and participate on the resolution of the arise opportunities
- Propose ideas and participate or support productivity projects through concept, critical and final design reviews by proposing material and design alternatives using mechanics of solids principles while maintaining product performance.
- Suggest solutions to product performance issues related to their design, customer complaints and product life cycle, using six sigma problem solving tools like DOE, 8D’s, poka yoke etc.
- Support potential line down events, which can include continuity of supply issues, assembly problems and quality problems this may include participate on the evaluation or proposals for alternate ma
