We are seeking an experienced and strategic Global Commodity Buyer to lead the sourcing, supplier management, and commercial strategy for a portfolio of automotive components on a global scale.
This role is responsible for developing and executing global commodity strategies, driving supplier selection and sourcing decisions, negotiating commercial agreements, identifying cost reduction opportunities, and ensuring supply continuity across multiple regions. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen with technical knowledge of automotive components and proven experience managing global supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Commodity Management
Develop and implement global purchasing strategies for assigned commodities.
Lead global sourcing activities and supplier selection processes, evaluating technical, commercial, logistics, and quality considerations.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to support business growth and supply chain resilience.
Monitor market dynamics, raw material trends, and industry developments affecting assigned commodities.
Commercial Negotiation & Contract Management
Lead commercial negotiations with global suppliers for current and future business opportunities, securing best-in-class commercial terms.
Negotiate pricing, rebates, and long-term agreements to maximize value and profitability.
Review, negotiate, and manage supplier contracts in alignment with global sourcing strategies and company objectives.
Ensure rebates and commercial agreements are accurately implemented and tracked.
Cost Optimization & Performance Improvement
Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, value engineering,



supplier negotiations, and process improvements.
Lead the continual improvement process in partnership with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and regional purchasing teams.
Analyze purchasing data to identify opportunities for productivity gains and spend optimization.
Improve total landed cost by optimizing transportation, freight, customs, duties, and logistics expenses.
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with Supplier Development teams to support supplier performance improvement initiatives.
Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with key global suppliers.
Partner with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Program Management.
Prepare and manage RFQ processes for general programs and support sourcing recommendations.
Reporting & Business Analysis
Develop monthly global commodity reports, such as: Spend analysis, Purchase Price Variance, Year-to-date performance, Forecast spend, Cost reduction tracking
Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
Develop and execute action plans with global and regional stakeholders to achieve purchasing objectives.
Qualifications Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, or a related field.
Experience




Minimum 5 years of purchasing or strategic sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 3 years of experience related to automotive components, either in engineering, product development, or commercial procurement roles.
Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
Demonstrated success in cost reduction initiatives and supplier development programs.
Experience managing global supplier relationships and cross-regional sourcing activities.

Travel:
Extensive international and intercontinental travel required
Language Requirements
Advanced English proficiency (written and verbal) is required.
Ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements and draft business correspondence and contracts in English.
