The Role
Ensures that all GWM operations and products comply with the applicable Mexican Official Standards (NOMs) for the automotive sector. Develops, implement and manage comprehensive regulatory compliance programs focused on certification processes, technical documentation, and continuous monitoring of regulatory changes. Leads the organization's efforts to maintain updated documentation related to NOMs to guarantee regulatory compliance in the Mexican market, protecting the company's ability to import, distribute, and sell vehicles and spare parts while mitigating regulatory risks and enhancing GWM's reputation in Mexico.
Position Challenges
- Maintain updated processes and products according to regulatory changes in NOMs, requiring constant vigilance and adaptability in a dynamic regulatory environment. Establish effective procedures for tracking certifications and regulatory compliance across multiple product lines and vehicle models. Provide strategic support for technical homologation of products and ensure that all spare parts and vehicles comply with Mexican specifications while minimizing impact on business operations.
- Balance compliance requirements with operational efficiency, ensuring timely product availability without compromising regulatory adherence. Navigate the complex Mexican regulatory system,
interpreting technical standards and translating them into actionable compliance strategies. Manage cross-functional collaboration to implement compliance requirements across different business units and suppliers. Anticipate regulatory changes and proactively prepare the organization for upcoming requirements to avoid business disruptions.
- Develop effective documentation systems that demonstrate compliance to regulatory authorities during inspections or verification visits. Ensure that all imported parts and vehicles have proper NOM certification before customs clearance to avoid penalties or import restrictions. Address non-compliance issues promptly and effectively, managing corrective action plans and follow-up activities.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with NOMs applicable to vehicles, auto parts, and spare parts imported and marketed in Mexico.
- Prepare, review, and maintain updated technical documentation required to comply with NOMs (reports, certificates, technical opinions).
- Coordinate with accredited certification bodies and testing laboratories to obtain NOM certificates.
- Create and develop monthly KPI reports related to certifications and compliance with NOMs.
- Monitor changes in technical regulations and new NOMs that may impact GWM products and operations in Mexico.
- Manage the timely renewal of certificates and maintain control over regulatory compliance documents.
- Conduct risk assessments related to regulatory compliance and develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate in the development of technical information for product labels, user manuals, and warranty documentation in compliance with NOMs.
- Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and industry associations to stay informed about regulatory developments.
- Provide expert guidance to internal stakeholders on NOM requirements and their implications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (MANDATORY) in Engineering, Quality, Law, or International Trade
- Areas of experience: Regulatory management, product certification, regulatory compliance, automotive industry, quality assurance, government relations, technical documentation, conformity assessment procedures.
- Experience in the automotive industry or similar manufacturing environments.
- Optional : Courses in Standardization, Conformity Assessment, or Product Certification. Certification in Regulatory Affairs, Quality Systems, or related fields. Technical training in automotive regulations.
- At least 3 years in regulatory compliance roles, preferably in the automotive sector or manufacturing industry with experience in Mexican regulatory framework.
- Knowledge of the Mexican standardization, Experience with government agency interactions is highly desirable.

- Fluent English is mandatory.
