Chemistry Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your years of advanced chemistry training could directly shape how AI reasons through the world's most complex scientific problems? We're looking for chemistry experts — Masters and PhDs — to help build and refine the next generation of AI models by designing and solving rigorous, real-world chemistry challenges.
This is a fully remote, adaptable contract role. No AI background needed — just deep chemistry expertise and a commitment to scientific precision.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Develop, solve, and critically review advanced chemistry problems with genuine real-world relevance
- Apply your specialist knowledge in organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry to design complex, well-structured problem statements
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve AI model reasoning in scientific contexts
- Evaluate the scientific accuracy, rigor, and clarity of AI-generated chemistry content
- Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of depth, precision, and scientific integrity
- Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Holder of a Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
- Deep expertise in one or more areas: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
- Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry software (e.g., Gaussian, VASP)
- Exceptionally detail-oriented — you notice when something is scientifically off and you know how to fix it
- A clear and precise written communicator who can explain complex concepts with accuracy
- Self-motivated and reliable when working independently without supervision
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in academic research, publishing, or peer review
- Familiarity with cheminformatics tools or scientific computing environments
- Experience mentoring, teaching, or developing problem sets in a chemistry context
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based scientific work
- Put your advanced degree to work in a high-impact, forward-looking field
- Contribute to AI systems that will shape how science is understood and communicated at scale
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
