Mission
We are looking for a Engineering Portfolio & Governance Director
Lead the Engineering function's strategic operating system — ensuring that engineering knowledge, capability, and execution are consistently translated into business value at enterprise scale. This role exists because Engineering's most critical output is not technical deliverables alone, but the organizational capacity to convert technical intelligence into competitive advantage, margin improvement, and sustainable growth
Responsibilities
- Design and operate the Engineering portfolio management system — consolidated view across Engine 1/2/3, RUN vs. Transform classification, project status and investment committed vs. delivered across all Engineering sub-areas.
- Establish and maintain the Engineering investment governance framework — approval process, authority levels, CAPEX/OPEX logic, business case standards and stage-gate discipline for discretionary and flagship projects.
- Lead and sustain Engineering's operating rhythm — internal forums across sub-areas, cross-functional alignment with Finance, Procurement, HR, Central Operations and plant leadership, and escalation mechanisms to the VP of Engineering.
- Serve as Engineering's primary interface with Central Strategy — ensuring Engineering priorities, capabilities and roadmaps are connected to Metalsa's strategic direction, 45|DD agenda, and long-term growth commitments.
- Coordinate Engineering's contribution to new revenue platforms — including MMB, MET-E and future workstreams — defining scope, capability requirements, resource allocation and governance in alignment with Commercial, Finance and Diversification & New Business teams.
- Act as Engineering's coordination point with the Diversification & New Business team — assessing Engineering feasibility for new market entries, translating business requirements into capability gaps, and aligning investment cases with Engineering's strategic roadmap.
- Own the Engineering value proposition toward Finance — investment justification, KPI definitions, value delivery tracking and budget visibility at function level, connected to the 2PC value creation cycle.
- Manage Engineering's external partner ecosystem — structure of relationships with Academia, Research Labs and Technology Suppliers; operating agreements, collaboration cadence and knowledge integration.
Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, Strategy or related field
- Strong business finance / value creation understanding
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Strategy, Operations, Finance or Digital Transformation
- +20 years of progressive experience across Operations, Central Functions, Systems, Governance, Strategy or Transformation in complex industrial or manufacturing environments
- Proven track record designing and operating governance, portfolio management or operating model systems at enterprise or multi-function scale
- Experience in senior roles with direct exposure to C-suite decision-making, financial governance and cross-functional accountability
- Connecting engineering or operational capabilities to business growth, value creation strategy (2PC / 45|DD) and financial performance
- Experience coordinating with or leading Central Strategy, Finance, HR and Procurement at corporate level
