Environmental Science Expert (AI Training)

About The Role

What if your years of graduate-level research in climate modeling, ecology, or sustainability could directly shape how AI reasons about the planet's most pressing challenges? We're looking for Environmental Science experts to help build and train cutting-edge AI models — designing complex, real-world problems that push AI to think at the level of a domain scientist.

This is a fully remote, versátil contract role. No AI background needed — just deep environmental science expertise and a passion for rigorous, meaningful work.

What You'll Do

- Develop, solve, and review advanced environmental science problems with real-world relevance and scientific depth
- Apply your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, or related disciplines to design complex, multi-step problem statements
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for scientific accuracy, rigor, and reasoning quality
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve how AI models handle environmental science topics
- Ensure clarity, depth, and scientific integrity across all deliverables
- Work independently on task-based assignments at your own pace

Who You Are

- Master's or PhD in Environmental Science, Climate Science, Ecology,



Earth Systems, or a closely related field
- Strong expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, sustainability science, environmental data analysis, or related areas
- Comfortable coding in Python or R for research, modeling, or data analysis
- Exceptionally clear written communicator — you can explain complex science precisely and accessibly
- Detail-oriented and rigorous — you hold yourself to publication-quality standards
- Fluent in English

Nice to Have

- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in interdisciplinary environmental research spanning multiple domains
- Familiarity with AI tools or large language model capabilities as an end user
- Experience communicating science to non-specialist audiences
