The role:
The Electrotechnical Officer (ETO) is responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the vessel’s electrical, electronic, automation, control, and safety systems. The role supports the Engineering team in maintaining vessel availability and operational continuity while ensuring compliance with applicable HSSE standards, company procedures, and maritime regulations.
This is a temporary position, established to support the Company’s operational requirements for a defined period.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain the vessel’s electrical power generation, distribution, and electrical systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and control equipment onboard.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical, electronic, automation, and control system faults to support safe and reliable vessel operations.
- Maintain and support onboard automation, monitoring, alarm, communication, and safety systems.
- Assist with the operation and maintenance of engine room equipment and coordinate activities with the Engineering team.
- Conduct inspections, testing, and functional checks of electrical and electronic equipment and systems.
- Support planned maintenance activities and ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with company procedures and vessel requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and documentation related to electrical and electronic systems.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company HSSE standards, vessel procedures, applicable maritime regulations, and class requirements.
- Participate in emergency response, drills, and other activities related to vessel safety and operational readiness.
- Coordinate with other departments and crew members to minimize operational disruptions and ensure effective completion of maintenance activities.
- Provide technical support for additional activities and operational requirements assigned by the Company.
What you bring:
- Appropriate maritime qualifications and certification to serve as an ElectroTechnical Officer (ETO), in accordance with applicable STCW requirements.
- Relevant experience working with electrical, electronic, automation, and control systems onboard vessels.
- Practical knowledge of marine electrical power generation and distribution systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining electrical, electronic, instrumentation, automation, and safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical drawings, manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Strong understanding of maritime HSSE requirements and safe working practices.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary Engineering team in a vessel environment.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond effectively to operational and maintenance requirements.
- Willingness and ability to work onboard the vessel in accordance with the applicable rotation and operational schedule.
