The Design Engineer role supports the development of custom furniture products through collaboration with cross-functional teams including Design and Manufacturing. The primary focus will be on utilizing SolidWorks to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings while ensuring that manufacturing data is accurately captured and integrated into the ERP system (Oracle).
- **Design Engineering Support**:
- Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D parts and assemblies and detailed drawings for furniture designs.
- Ensure all designs meet manufacturing, safety, and customer requirements.
- Participate in the product development process, from concept through production, working closely with other engineers, designers, and purchasing.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure feasibility of designs and efficient material yields for production.
- Provide technical support for product improvements and custom modifications and installation teams.
- **ERP System Support**:
- Enter and maintain accurate product data in the ERP system (Oracle).
- Support the creation and maintenance of manufacturing databases within the ERP system.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving any issues related to product data in the ERP.
- Creating online quoting tools to generate Bill of Materials for the ERP system and lead the process from start to finish.
- **Cross-functional Teamwork**:
- Work with the design and manufacturing teams to develop solutions that optimize cost, quality, and manufacturability.




- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on designs based on engineering principles and manufacturing constraints.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure designs meet project timelines and customer expectations.
**Qualifications**:
**Education/Experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, Furniture Design and Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with SolidWorks in an academic or professional setting is required.
- Experience working with ERP systems, particularly Oracle, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with the furniture manufacturing industry is a plus.
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, production-ready drawings.
- Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle for entering and maintaining product data.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments.
- Bilingual: Proficient in English for business communication
**Working Environment**
- Regularly works with a team with occasional collaboration across departments.
