**The Role**
This is a high-ownership role for someone who is comfortable spanning a mobile client, a Laravel/React web app, and AWS infrastructure. You will work directly with the founding engineering team and have a real say in the architecture.
**What You Will Build**
- An embeddable chat widget that partners integrate into their native iOS and Android apps with mínimal setup, delivered as a web widget wrapped in a thin native SDK.
- A real-time messaging backend using WebSockets, with a durable message store and a clean two-tier authentication model (partner-level API keys plus short-lived per-client identity tokens).
- A modular, API-first channel design that can extend to additional messaging channels over time.
- Push notification integration, white-label theming, metrics, and monitoring.
**Beyond the First Project**
- Once the chat product ships, the role continues. You will:
- Own the ongoing maintenance, reliability, and iteration of the systems you build, including monitoring, on-call for your services, and responding to partner needs as they scale.
- Help build out Accountability Coach HQ (AC HQ), the daily workbench coaches use to manage clients, communication, and coaching context in one place.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the business, not just deliver a single feature.
**Required Skills and Experience**
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience across the full stack.
- Strong mobile development background. You have shipped production iOS and/or Android apps and understand native app architecture, the app-store release process, WebViews,



and push notifications (APNs and FCM).
- Cross-platform mobile experience such as React Native, or deep native experience in Swift and Kotlin. Experience embedding components into existing native apps (brownfield integration) is a strong plus.
- Strong backend experience with PHP (Laravel) or a comparable modern web framework, including REST API design and relational database modeling.
- Solid front-end experience with React and TypeScript.
- Hands-on experience building real-time features (WebSockets, Pusher/Reverb, or similar).
- Experience with relational databases (MySQL/MariaDB or PostgreSQL) and sound data modeling.
- Working knowledge of AWS (we run on AWS in us-east-2).
- A strong grasp of authentication and security fundamentals, including token-based auth (JWT), secret handling, and API key management.
- Ability to own a feature end to end and make pragmatic architectural decisions.
**Nice to Have**
- Experience building embeddable SDKs, chat/messaging products, or widgets that run inside third-party apps.
- Familiarity with CRM or CPaaS integrations (for example Close, Twilio, Telnyx, or Sinch).
- Experience with observability tooling (Datadog)



and on-call/alerting (PagerDuty).
- Experience with white-label or multi-tenant products.
- Familiarity with Redis, message queues, and Laravel Reverb or the Pusher protocol.
- Experience with the app-store submission and over-the-air update process for mobile.
