To be considered for this position, you must have an advanced level of English & Spanish
At GBS Group, we help entrepreneurs and executives start, run, and manage their businesses in the United States through Start-Up Services, Financial & Tax Advisory, and operational support solutions. As we continue scaling our internal capabilities, we are investing heavily in automation, AI-driven workflows, and internal platforms that improve how we operate, deliver, and scale. We are building a high-leverage internal systems layer powered by automation and AI—and this role is critical to that effort.
This role owns the design, development, deployment, security, and maintenance of internal tools, automation systems, and AI-driven workflows. It combines internal product development, platform engineering, DevOps, and applied AI systems to improve operational efficiency and scale business processes. You will also be responsible for the security, reliability, and integrity of these systems, ensuring safe handling of data, access, and system interactions across all automation and AI workflows.
This is a high-ownership, builder role for someone who thinks beyond code and focuses on driving real business impact through systems.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Tools & Platforms
Build and evolve internal tools that support core business operations
Design systems that improve operational efficiency and scalability
Treat internal tools as products with long-term ownership
Automation & System Orchestration
Design and implement automation across workflows, systems, and data pipelines
Connect APIs, third-party tools, and internal systems into cohesive workflows
Continuously identify and execute high-impact automation opportunities
AI Systems & Workflows
Integrate AI tools, copilots, and agent-based processes into day-to-day operations
Design and manage AI-driven workflows that are reliable and production-ready
Establish guardrails for AI usage (data exposure, prompt injection risks, etc.)
Infrastructure,
DevOps & Reliability
Own CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, and environment management
Maintain infrastructure reliability, monitoring, and observability
Troubleshoot system failures, integration issues, and performance bottlenecks
Security & System Integrity
Implement and maintain security best practices across internal tools and AI workflows
Manage authentication, authorization, and access controls (RBAC, secrets, API keys)
Ensure secure handling of sensitive data across integrations and AI systems
Monitor for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and potential abuse
Protect systems against risks specific to AI-enabled environments
Cross-Functional Impact
Work closely with operations and leadership to translate business needs into systems
Improve how teams operate by reducing manual work and increasing leverage
What Makes Someone Successful Here
Thinks like a product builder, not just a developer
Comfortable owning systems end-to-end (build → deploy → maintain → improve)
Strong at debugging messy, real-world system issues
Understands tradeoffs between speed (AI-assisted builds) and reliability
Focused on business outcomes, not just technical elegance
Proactively identifies opportunities to improve systems and processes
Requirements & Qualifications
+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or similar roles
Proven experience building and maintaining internal tools, automation systems, or operational platforms
Strong backend and system design fundamentals, with the ability to design scalable, reliable systems
Experience with API integrations and system orchestration, connecting multiple tools and services into cohesive workflows
Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, and infrastructure management
Familiarity with observability, logging, and monitoring systems to ensure reliability and performance
Strong experience designing and implementing workflow automation and system optimization
Ability to analyze processes and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency
Hands-on experience working with AI tools in production environments, including LLMs, agents, or automation platforms
Ability to integrate AI into real business workflows with sound judgment
Understanding of agent-based systems and orchestration patterns
Solid understanding of security fundamentals, including authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management
Experience with secure API design and integration practices
Familiarity with common vulnerabilities (OWASP mindset) and ability to identify risks
Understanding of AI-specific security risks, such as data leakage, prompt injection, and over-permissioned agents
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across applications, infrastructure, and integrations
Ability to navigate and resolve complex, real-world system issues
Strong understanding of system reliability, performance, and operational excellence
Ability to operate independently with high ownership and accountability
Nice to Have
Experience designing AI-powered internal platforms or automation layers
Experience with agent-based systems or workflow orchestration tools
Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized environments
Background in scaling internal systems in fast-growing companies
What We Offer You
Competitive compensation based on experience and impact
High-autonomy environment with strong ownership expectations
The opportunity to shape how GBS builds automation-first and AI-native systems
Versátil time off and company-wide holidays
Direct impact on business efficiency and scalability
