About Shiftbalance
Shiftbalance is a general people, culture, and leadership consultancy working with UN agencies, INGOs, and private sector clients on gender equity, facilitation, ethics and integrity, leadership development, e-learning, coaching, and organizational culture. Our small, remote team delivers projects across multiple countries and languages, partnering with agencies like UNICEF, UNDP, and DRC on training design, curriculum development, and business development.
The Role
We are looking for a versatile, bilingual Operations & Learning and Development Assistant to support the team across three areas: programme and operations support (including work connected to our Venezuela-focused engagements), learning and development content, and business development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who wants hands-on exposure to international training design and UN/INGO business development, with the possibility of a longer-term role from 2027 if the collaboration goes well.
Key Responsibilities
Programme & Operations Support
Support the coordination and administration of ongoing training and lessons learnt projects, including work connected to Venezuela — scheduling, tracking deliverables, and liaising with participants and partners
Prepare, adapt, and proofread training decks, session materials, and handouts in English and Spanish
Maintain project trackers, Gantt charts, and registration materials
Learning & Development
Help design and format PowerPoint decks and session outlines for workshops
Support translation and localisation of curricula and e-learning content between English and Spanish
Assist with logistics for online pilots and in-person workshops For candidates with relevant L&D;, training, or humanitarian experience,
opportunity to co-deliver select training sessions or conduct needs-sensing interviews
Business Development
Draft, format, and proofread sections of proposals and tender responses
Monitor procurement portals (UNGM, ReliefWeb, and others) for relevant opportunities
Send outreach and follow-up emails to UN, INGO, and corporate contacts to support business development efforts
Help maintain and update contact databases and CRM-style trackers
Search for contacts, reach out to potential clients on LinkedIn and support business development efforts overall
Candidate Profile
Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken)
Based in, and ideally originally from, Latin America / South America — lived cultural and linguistic fluency is valued for our Venezuela-related work
Strong writing, organisational, and attention-to-detail skills
Comfortable with MS Office / Google Workspace; PowerPoint design skills a plus
Experience in learning & development, coaching, DEI, or HR
Prior experience to UN agencies, INGOs, humanitarian work or consulting environments is an asset
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently in a remote, small-team setting
Reliable internet connection and own laptop
Duration & Next Steps
This is a 4-month consultancy engagement from September to December 2026, fully remote, full-time. Strong performance may lead to renewal or an extended role in 2027 as Shiftbalance grows its presence in the Americas.
Compensation: $1,000-$1,500, based on experience
Location: Fully remote — candidates based in the Americas preferred, ideally able to work core hours aligned with Americas time zones
