Job DescriptionThe Logistics Specialist is an intermediate‐level professional role responsible for independently analyzing, monitoring, and supporting logistics and transportation activities to improve efficiency, cost control, and service performance.
This position applies working knowledge of logistics operations, data analysis, and supply chain principles to evaluate performance, resolve routine issues, and support decision‐making.
Work is performed under moderate supervision and has a direct impact on delivery reliability, inventory flow, and logistics cost management.Responsibilities and DutiesLogistics Data Analysis & Performance MonitoringIndependently analyze logistics data related to shipments, freight costs, transit times, and service performanceMonitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‐time delivery, carrier performance, and freight spendIdentify trends, variances, and root causes of routine performance issuesProvide data‐driven insights and recommendations to support operational decisionsTransportation & Distribution SupportSupport inbound and outbound transportation activities and distribution center operationsCoordinate with carriers, warehouses, or third‐party logistics providers to resolve routine issuesAssist with load planning, shipment tracking, and exception managementSupport carrier performance reviews and service‐level adherenceCost Control & Financial SupportAnalyze freight invoices, transportation charges, and cost variancesSupport logistics cost tracking, budgeting, and forecasting activitiesIdentify opportunities for cost optimization or efficiency improvementsPartner with Finance to ensure accurate logistics cost reportingInventory Flow & Data ReconciliationSupport tracking of inventory movement between plants, warehouses, and customersReconcile shipping, receiving,



and inventory transaction dataIdentify and help resolve discrepancies related to logistics executionCoordinate with inventory, warehouse, or planning teams as needed Process Compliance & Continuous ImprovementApply logistics procedures, transportation policies, and internal controls consistentlySupport compliance with documentation, regulatory, and audit requirementsIdentify recurring issues or process gaps and recommend improvementsParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics execution Collaboration & Knowledge DevelopmentWork cross‐functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Customer Service, and Finance teamsCommunicate analysis results and recommendations clearly to stakeholdersProvide informal guidance or support to Logistics Analyst I roles as neededContinue developing expertise in logistics systems, tools, and best practicesScope & ImpactImpact is primarily at the functional or operational level through improved logistics performance and visibilityWork is routine to moderately complex and requires analytical judgmentContributes directly to service reliability, cost control, and supply chain efficiencyEducation, Experience and SkillsBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Finance, Analytics, or related field required3-5 years of prior experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain analysis, or operations roles preferred.Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesWorking knowledge of logistics and transportation processesStrong analytical, problem‐solving, and data‐interpretation skillsAbility to evaluate trends, investigate issues, and propose solutionsAttention to detail and commitment to data accuracyEffective written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with spreadsheets, reporting tools, and ERP/TMS systems preferred
