Job TypeFull-timeJob SummaryPrimary role is managing resources; Operators, equipment and materials.
Responsible for flow of work through the shop and technical training of Operators.
In addition, the role requires the ability to operate all machinery, and perform the most complex machining, set‐ups, and programming.Essential Job FunctionsResource ManagementServe as a technical resource and team leader for operatorsTrain and develop less experienced operators and participate in their development in partnership with VSMComplete work order paperwork and demonstrate an outstanding record of quality, efficiency, and productivityProvide guidance, feedback and positive behavior modeling the Gund Company culture of careDetermine if tools are undamaged and in safe condition for useMake suggestions to improve production and order processing efficiencyFollow safety rules and quality standardsModel ethical and moral behavior consistent with the values and ideals supported by The Gund CompanyTechnical FunctionsSet‐up and operate machines in multiple families of equipment that include but are not limited to saws, manual mills, lathes, presses,
routers etc.Perform progressive machining operations on parts and work orders involving very close tolerances and/or unusual requirementsPerform in‐process inspection according to standard proceduresMaintain a clean and organized work areaQualifications and CompetenciesPerform work independently with minimal defectsAbility to be versátil in situations when production needs change unexpectedlyIntermediate math skills & aptitudeAbility to understand drawing and blueprintsAbility to use measuring instruments accurately and effectivelyExcellent problem‐solving skillsMust be able to work overtime as neededEducation and ExperienceTechnical degree and 5+ years of experience preferred, or experience and education will be consideredPrior experience in a manufacturing industry is requiredPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; may be required to sit and reach with hands and arms; stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is typical of most shop environments, not climate controlled and impacted by outdoor weather conditions.
