The Director of Quality is responsible for motors, motor gearbox assemblies, machining, testing, measurement systems, electronics drives and component quality, reliability, cost reduction and warranty mitigation.
This is a critical role to support new product development and qualification, safe launch process, product transfers, product application engineering development, sustaining quality problem solving, customer and plant operation quality process controls.
This position also provides quality direction and support to procurement to help select, qualify, and develop new suppliers to manufacture and measure product materials and parts.
Finally, this role is to responsibly listen and professionally respond to the voice of the external and internal customers to manage improvement projects and metrics.Job Description
Role OverviewManage teams and projects to implement new products without quality, warranty or safety issuesManage New Product APQP & Safe Launch processes to proactively prevent issuesDrive and implement action plans to improve quality metricsManage projects to reduce Failure Costs of QualityInteract with customers and manage teams of functional groups to assure customer satisfactionLead 8 D problem solving meetings and implement actions to resolve customer problemsChampion the business unit Six Sigma process to implement cultural changeLead quality projects to implement measurement equipment and quality systemsDevelop presentations and lead quality communicationsImplement Quality Management System to assure compliance to ISO and Nidec WayTravel to Nidec sites, suppliers and customers to verify product and process controls for qualityQualifications




Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science is requiredMBA or Advanced degree preferredASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Manager and Operational Excellence or commitment to complete***** years of quality management and manufacturing engineering experience with demonstrated capability utilizing problem solving tools to solve manufacturing and customer problemssolid project management background having a proven track record of driving projects as a team player from concept through completionCapability to analyze and interpret data utilizing Six-Sigma tools and methodologies.
Thorough understanding of SPC processes along with Minitab statistical analysis software or equivalent.Six Sigma Green Belt certification required or commitment to complete certification, Black Belt preferredStrong 8 D problem solving tool knowledge and ability to lead teams to problem resolution.
Shainin Red X training and certification preferred and Op Ex training a plus.Must be willing to travel up to 50%Additional Job Details
