employment type: full-time / permanent

position overview

we are seeking an experienced design release engineer (dre) specializing in powertrain systems to lead the lifecycle management of critical engine components (including blocks, heads, valvetrain, cooling, or structural mounts) from initial concept through to final vehicle production.

the ideal candidate will serve as the central technical authority for their assigned components, balancing technical design rigor with cross-functional project management.

core responsibilities

lifecycle & release management: own and maintain the component bill of materials (bom). Initiate, track, and execute engineering change notices (ecns) using corporate plm systems (teamcenter, windchill, or equivalent). Design & packaging: collaborate closely with cad designers to optimize packaging, ensure clearance, and conduct digital mock-up (dmu) reviews using nx or catia. Supplier development: act as the primary technical interface with tier 1 suppliers. Oversee apqp and ppap milestones, monitor tooling progress, and ensure components meet strict quality and cost targets. Validation & testing: define and review design verification plans and report (dvp& r) requirements. Analyze physical test data, simulation results, and lead root-cause analysis (8 d, fishbone) for any component failures. Cross-functional alignment: coordinate with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and plant engineering to ensure flawless execution during prototype builds and production launches.
