we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced functional safety engineer with a strong software engineering background to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining functional safety processes and software safety requirements for complex embedded systems and software-driven products.

the idóneo candidate will possess deep knowledge of functional safety standards, software development lifecycles, safety analysis techniques, and experience working in regulated industries such as automotive, industrial automation, aerospace, medical devices, or similar domains.

key responsibilities

lead and support functional safety activities throughout the product development lifecycle. Develop and maintain functional safety concepts (fsc) and technical safety concepts (tsc). Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments (hara/fmea/fta/stpa). Define, review, and manage software safety requirements and safety mechanisms. Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, quality, and verification teams to ensure compliance with safety requirements. Ensure traceability between safety goals, requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification activities. Participate in safety audits, assessments, and reviews. Develop and maintain safety cases and supporting documentation. Support safety validation and verification activities, including test planning and execution. Drive process improvements related to safety engineering and software development. Provide guidance and mentoring to engineering teams on functional safety best practices.

required qualifications





bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in software engineering, embedded systems, or software safety engineering. Strong understanding of functional safety standards such as: iso 26262 iec 61508 iec 62304 do-178 c (preferred) iec 62061 (preferred) experience with safety analysis techniques: hara fmea/fmeca fta stpa knowledge of software development methodologies and sdlc processes. Experience with requirements management and traceability tools. Familiarity with embedded software architectures and real-time systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

preferred qualifications

functional safety certification (tüv, exida, or equivalent). Experience with autosar and automotive software architectures. Experience with cybersecurity standards such as iso/sae 21434. Familiarity with agile/scrum development methodologies. Experience using tools such as: polarion doors jama enterprise architect matlab/simulink vector tools knowledge of ci/cd pipelines and software quality processes.
