ISP Basketball coach Role Profile
Purpose of Role
The purpose of the Basketball Coach role is to support students in developing their basketball skills while fostering teamwork, discipline, and respect. The coach plays a key role in helping student-athletes grow both on and off the court by promoting healthy lifestyles, good sportsmanship, and commitment to academic achievement. This role contributes to the overall mission of the school by ensuring that athletics positively support student development, school spirit, and community values.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and deliver structured training sessions that focus on skill development, fitness, and tactical understanding of the game.
- Coach the team during practices, games, and tournaments, providing clear strategies and feedback.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, and respect among players,
both on and off the court.
- Assess and monitor player performance, providing individualized guidance for improvement.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions.
- Collaborate with school staff/administration (or club management) to align athletic goals with academic and behavioral expectations.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop players to build a strong, cohesive team.
- Represent the team and school/organization in a professional and positive manner.
Skills:
- Srong knowledge of basketball techniques, rules, and strategies.
- Ability to teach and motivate athletes of varying skill levels.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to maintain discipline, fairness, and respect.
- Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to player development both athletically and personally.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience coaching or teaching basketball at the school or youth level.
- Coaching certification (where required by local regulations or school policy).
Experience:
- Experience as a basketball player (school, club, or higher level preferred).
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred or required by school policy).
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
