the staff accountant is responsible for supporting the organization's accounting operations through the accurate recording, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting of financial transactions. This role plays a critical part in maintaining the integrity of financial records, supporting the monthly close process, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the accounting organization.
the role partners closely with accounting managers, regional controllers, finance teams, shared service teams, and business stakeholders to support financial reporting, operational decision-making, and accounting process excellence. The staff accountant is expected to develop a strong understanding of company operations, financial reporting requirements, and accounting best practices while maintaining high standards of accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
prepare journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other accounting transactions in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
prepare account analyses and supporting schedules used in management, corporate, and statutory reporting.
manage prepaid expense accounting and amortization schedules.
maintain fixed asset records including additions, transfers, disposals, retirements, and depreciation calculations.
gaap, local statutory requirements,
local gaap requirements, and company accounting policies.
research accounting issues and recommend appropriate accounting treatment when required.
reconciliations & controls
prepare and maintain timely, accurate, and well-documented balance sheet account reconciliations.
reconcile fixed asset, accumulated depreciation, prepaid expense, accrual, and other balance sheet accounts.
maintain supporting documentation that meets audit and internal control requirements.
support compliance with sox requirements, internal controls, and governance policies where applicable.
identify process gaps, control issues, and opportunities for improvement.
identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
support efforts to reduce close cycle times and improve reporting quality.
contribute ideas that improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of accounting operations
utilize erp systems to process transactions, perform reconciliations, and support reporting activities.
demonstrate proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools.
support accounting activities within nspb (net suite planning and budgeting) as required.
assist with system testing, upgrades, and implementations.
ensure data integrity and consistency across systems and reports.
audit, tax & compliance
support external auditors with schedules, reconciliations, and requested documentation.
assist tax consultants and finance leadership with compliance-related requests.
support local statutory reporting requirements and documentation needs.
support audit readiness and compliance initiatives throughout the year stakeholder collaboration.
partner with accounting managers, regional controllers, and finance leadership.
collaborate with fp& a, operations, supply chain, commercial, r& d, hr, and it teams.
communicate accounting issues, risks, and opportunities clearly and professionally.
support strong alignment between accounting activities and financial reporting requirements.
bachelor's degree in accounting required.
2–5 years of accounting experience.
~ experience supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid accounting preferred.
~ experience with erp systems (net suite preferred).
~ experience in manufacturing, agriculture, biotechnology, life sciences, multi-entity, or integral organizations preferred.
ability to communicate effectively in english, both orally and in writing.
