Senior AccountantJob Summary The Senior Accountant will maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks for four separate legal entities, including one nonprofit organization. This role is responsible for day-to-day accounting, entity segregation, reconciliations, financial reporting, analysis, compliance, and support for audits and business decisions.
Key Responsibilities General Accounting Maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks for four legal entities, ensuring proper entity, class, and fund segregation.
Record daily transactions, journal entries, AP, AR, bank activity, and intercompany transactions.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Banking & Reconciliations Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations for all entities.
Investigate discrepancies and maintain proper supporting documentation.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Process vendor bills, payments, and employee reimbursements.
Prepare customer invoices, record receipts and deposits, and monitor outstanding balances.
Intercompany Accounting Record, track, and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
Ensure proper documentation and elimination of intercompany activity for reporting.
Nonprofit Accounting Maintain accurate nonprofit financial records and track restricted/unrestricted funds, grants, and donations.
Ensure proper expense classification by program, administrative, and fundraising activities.
Support nonprofit reporting requirements.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting Perform monthly and year-end close activities for all entities.
Prepare and review balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow reports.
Analyze financial results and explain variances versus budget, prior periods, or expectations.
Prepare entity-level and consolidated reports.
Support cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
Compliance & Process Improvement Maintain organized records for audits, reviews, and tax filings.
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax preparers.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and QuickBooks efficiency.
Help standardize accounting practices across all entities.
Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
3-5 years of accounting experience.
Experience managing multiple legal entities.
Strong hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Desktop .
Skills & Knowledge Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
Experience with nonprofit accounting and fund tracking.
Advanced Excel skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple entities, priorities, and deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
