this is not a managerial role. Candidates should have strong execution and delivery capabilities in integration and engineering roles.
the industrial engineer supports the warehouse automation & operational technology (aot) agenda by helping design, validate, and integrate advanced ot and automation solutions that power high-performance warehouses across the general network.
working within the aot engineering community, the role collaborates cross-functionally to understand operational needs, shape automation concepts, generate and validate technical scope of work, and lead engineering validation of automation tenders and vendor proposals.
the position combines hands-on warehouse/automation knowledge with strong analytical and collaboration skills to deliver reliable, scalable, and operationally relevant technology solutions in a fast-moving, global environment.
technical knowledge
• familiar with warehouse and logistics operational processes and material handling / automation environments (sorters, ptl, agv/amr, as/rs, robotics).
• familiar with wcs/wes/wms, mes, scada, hmi concepts and industrial monitoring tools.
• familiar with automation–warehouse integration principles (isa-95 communication guidelines).
• able to interpret layouts, process flows, and technical drawings.
required qualification
• understanding of end-to-end warehouse operational flows (inbound, storage, picking, etc.) and physical cargo flow,
and the ability to translate them into automation concepts, solution designs, and system integration requirements.
• understanding of operational and functional kpis, using equipment performance in logistics environments to inform and validate solution design decisions.
• ability to define and size the infrastructure required to enable warehouse operations as part of the solution design — including ot devices, network, automation systems, and servers.
• understanding of network architecture (wan, wlan, lan), warehouse ot devices (handheld devices, printers, rfid, etc.), and aot infrastructure, and how they fit within an end-to-end technical concept design.
• knowledge of the automation technologies available to digitise and automate operational processes, with the ability to assess their fit and recommend the right solution for each use case.
• familiarity with warehouse management software (wms), control systems (wcs, wes, mes), and monitoring solutions (scada, hmi), and how they integrate across the warehouse technology stack.
• knowledge of logistics processes, automation solutions, industry trends, and relevant innovations, applied to design scalable, future-ready solutions.
• proven experience designing, pricing, and implementing warehouse automation solutions — including automated sortation systems, pick-to-light (ptl), agvs, amrs, and as/rs, among others.
