Regional Tax Manager - USA & Mexico - Interiors Division
We are looking for an experienced Regional Tax Manager - USA & Mexico to lead tax matters across our operations in North America.
Based in Puebla, Mexico, this role will act as a key tax expert for the region, ensuring tax compliance, accurate reporting, effective risk management, and optimized tax positions across the United States and Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead tax compliance for US and Mexico entities, including corporate income tax, US federal and state taxes, Mexican ISR, US Sales & use Tax, Mexican IVA, and withholding taxes.
- Manage US and Mexico tax return preparation and filing, coordinating internal teams and external advisors.
- Own regional tax provisions and tax accounting under ASC 740 / IFRS, including current and deferred tax reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Mexican tax requirements, including CFDI, informative returns, and US state nexus and registration obligations.
- Manage the IMMEX / maquiladora regime obligations and benefits for Mexican manufacturing operations, including safe-harbor and compliance requirements.
- Manage tax controls, documentation, and SOX compliance across the region.
- Identify tax planning and optimization opportunities, including applicable credits and incentives.
- Support Transfer Pricing compliance and documentation.
- Lead tax audits and controversy matters with IRS, US state authorities, and the Mexican SAT.
- Advise the business on cross-border transactions, withholding taxes, tax treaties, and USMCA-related matters.
- Provide tax support for M&A;, restructuring, entity rationalization, and regional transformation projects.
- Partner closely with Finance, Treasury, Controlling, Legal, and business teams across the region.
- Manage external tax advisors, including scope, quality, and budget.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of relevant tax experience, including US and/or Mexican taxation, ideally within a multinational or manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical expertise in US and Mexican direct and indirect taxation.
- Solid knowledge of ASC 740 / IFRS tax accounting and provisions.
- Experience managing tax audits and interactions with US and Mexican tax authorities.
- Knowledge of IMMEX / maquiladora and cross-border US–Mexico tax matters.
- Experience in a combination of Big Four/advisory and in-house environments is a strong advantage.
- Automotive industry experience is highly valued.
- Master's degree or equivalent level in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field.
- CPA, Contador Público, or equivalent professional qualification is preferred.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish; French is a plus.
- Willingness to travel within the region as required.
