Job Summary

Syntax is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Security Compliance Specialist to lead and support security compliance initiatives across the organization. This role is responsible for helping ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal security policies while partnering with cross-functional teams to strengthen Syntax’s security posture, governance, risk management, and control environment.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in information security, governance, risk and compliance (GRC), audits, and regulatory frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, GDPR, HIPAA, or similar standards. This role also supports Syntax’s broader commitment to innovation by leveraging automation, data-driven insights, and AI-enabled capabilities to improve compliance efficiency, reporting, and risk visibility.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage security compliance programs and initiatives across Syntax.
- Ensure compliance with applicable security frameworks, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, assessments, and remediation activities.
- Develop, review, and maintain security policies, procedures, and controls.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify gaps in security and compliance processes.
- Partner with IT, Legal, HR, Engineering, and business stakeholders to implement compliance requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes, industry trends, and emerging risks impacting cybersecurity and compliance.
- Prepare compliance reports, metrics,



dashboards, and executive-level presentations.
- Support vendor and third-party security risk assessments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to governance, risk, and compliance processes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior compliance or security team members.
- Assist in incident response activities from a compliance and regulatory perspective when required.
- Contribute to the adoption of automation, intelligent workflows, and AI-enabled tools to enhance compliance monitoring, evidence collection, and reporting efficiency.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in information security, cybersecurity compliance, risk management, or GRC-related roles.
- Strong knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as:
- ISO 27001
- SOC 2
- NIST
- PCI-DSS
- GDPR
- HIPAA
- CIS Controls

- Experience managing audits and compliance assessments.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and security controls.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using data, automation, or AI-supported tools to improve compliance processes is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

- Professional certifications such as:
- CISSP
- CISM
- CRISC
- CISA
- ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer

- Experience with cloud security compliance across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience using GRC platforms and compliance management tools.
- Background in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, finance, or SaaS environments.
- Exposure to automation, analytics,



and AI-enabled solutions that improve governance, risk, and compliance operations.
- An appreciation for innovation, continuous improvement, and modern delivery approaches, including automation and AI-enabled services.

Education & Certifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred.
- Professional certifications in security, audit, risk, or compliance are highly valued.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, or ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer are a strong asset.
