**The Role**: Senior Analyst - Climate Risk and Opportunity
**The Team**: The Research and Methodology Team is a key component of S&P; Global’s Sustainable1 organization part of Commodity Insights. This team is responsible for the innovation, development, and maintenance of methodologies and models that support S&P; Global's comprehensive sustainability data and analytical solutions. The team ensures alignment across divisions in methodology development, governance, and quality, prioritizing quality, efficiency, transparency, and continuous innovation through collaboration and a global mindset.
**The Impact**: In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders, both within the Research and Methodology Team and across Sustainable1, to advance research and innovation that supports the product roadmap. This encompasses maintaining and enhancing existing data product methodologies, as well as designing and developing new methodologies to meet emerging client needs. You will be part of our Impact Function Research team, which is tasked with researching and developing models that quantify the operational and financial impacts of climate hazard exposures on real assets and companies. These impact function models are integral to the S&P; Global Climanomics solution for climate risk analytics.
This position offers a chance to contribute to delivering actionable data and insights to corporate and financial institutions, enabling them to comply with regulations and navigate the transition to a low carbon and sustainable future. **What’s in it for you**: This role is part of the Climate Methodology team, which manages methodologies for datasets, platforms, and solutions focused on climate change risks and opportunities. The integral team includes analysts from diverse technical backgrounds across the USA, UK, Spain, India, Hong Kong, and Australia. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver research and innovation supporting the product roadmap, maintaining and enhancing existing methodologies, and developing new ones to meet emerging client needs. This role contributes to our Climate Risk and Opportunities research theme, including research on transition pathways, policy risk, litigation risk, and climate opportunities. It offers a chance to provide actionable data and insights for corporate and financial institutions to transition to a sustainable future.
**Responsibilities**:
Support research, design, prototyping, and implementation of new analytical methodologies on climate risk and opportunities topics.
Maintain and enhance existing methodologies.
Implement methodologies in the S1 Data Platform with a focus on automation, efficiency, and quality assurance.
Support data quality and efficiency improvement initiatives.
Engage in the S1 Research Governance framework to uphold quality and transparency.
Manage key project components with internal and external partners.
Communicate insights and technical approaches clearly, including documentation for varied audiences.
Collaborate with a global team to conduct analysis and ensure insight quality.
Develop reports, factsheets, blog posts, and materials for various audiences.
Provide market feedback to shape S&P; Global’s climate and sustainability product innovation roadmap.
**What We’re Looking For**:
Strong quantitative background, with favorable experience in data science and geospatial analysis.
Skills in data and project management.

**Qualifications**:
5+ years of relevant technical and industry experience, including complex technical projects preferred.
Strong quantitative background in Data Science, Economics, Engineering, or Natural Sciences.
Proficiency in data science and coding languages like Python, SQL, R; experience with Databricks is favorable.
Detail-oriented, numerically proficient, with curiosity and an innovative approach to problem-solving.
Ability to convey complex information compellingly to senior executives.
Financial services experience is beneficial but not required.
Fluent in English, with additional languages
