DESCRIPTION
**Position: Front Desk / Explorers Staff**:
**Location**: Onboard luxury cruise ships - global routes
**Companies**: Viking Cruises & Virgin Voyages
**Estimated Salary**: From $1,600 USD/month (varies by cruise line and experience)
**Purpose of the Role**:
You’ll be the face of the guest experience — from check-in to shore excursions. This role is all about creating meaningful moments, solving problems with style, and making guests feel like the stars they are.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide friendly, professional service at the Front Desk / Explorers Desk throughout the cruise.
- Assist with check-in, embarkation, document collection, and disembarkation logistics.
- Answer questions, resolve guest concerns, and handle complaints using the company’s service standards (STAR Service for Viking / Epic Service for Virgin).
- Promote, sell, and coordinate shore excursions, including logistics, bookings, and audio equipment.
- Manage lost & found items, guest lists, VIP requests, printed materials, and general front office tasks.
- Process payments, handle foreign currency, register credit cards, and maintain a clean cash float.
- Support with concierge tasks like restaurant bookings and private guest requests.




- Coordinate closely with other departments to deliver seamless guest service.
- Participate in daily team briefings and follow onboard safety, health, and public hygiene protocols.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
- At least 1 year of experience in front desk or hospitality roles (hotels or cruise ships preferred).
- Fluent English (spoken and written); additional languages are a big plus.
- Previous shipboard experience is preferred.
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, reservation systems).
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Positive attitude, adaptable mindset, and calm under pressure.
- Professional appearance and excellent personal hygiene.
- Willingness to work long hours, rotating shifts, and live onboard for 6-8 month contracts.
