**Company Description**
Objectives of the Position:
The purpose of this position is to manage the import/export compliance and operational activities as well as all efforts at the Mexico commercial site to ensure adherence with laws, improve operational efficiency and facilitate reduction of tariff and non-tariff barriers. The primary focus is the Mexico location, but this position will also support other LATAM & CA commercial sites in our network with tactical and compliance activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all import/export transactions are executed in accordance with Customs regulations
- Manage the site’s daily import/export transactions, primary liaison with the customs broker, Customs Authorities, and other relevant Government Agencies, provide trade guidance to local AbbVie business personnel.
- Advise and support the business on import and export compliance matters, regulatory and legislative changes, providing strategic and tactical leadership
- Primary point of contact with Customs or Other Governmental Agencies (incl Chambers/Trade Associations) to address any audits, inspections or regulation changes.
- Manages the relationships and agreements with third parties including Customs Brokers and other third parties involved in the import and export process.
- Partner with cross-functional teams such as: Supply Chain Brand Mgmt., Regulatory Affairs, Finance and other relevant areas, to ensure alignment and integration of functional activities.
- Support the development and deployment of training plans and training material for local site(s) within the region.
- Manage the capturing and analyzing of financial and operational trade metrics for reporting up to the site and Integral Trade Compliance leadership.
- Management of special trade programs, supply chain security programs, and simplified customs procedures and schemes
- Support and/or Lead import/export/duty management and trusted trader projects that focus on driving efficiencies or cost savings for the company.
- Monitor trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes and alert the appropriate parties internally to the impact on the business
**Qualifications**
- Proficient in English
- University degree in a related field (e.g., international trade, supply chain, logistics, legal preferred)
- +7 years of experience working in trade compliance, broker’s agency or multinational company, or consulting firm.
- Understanding of global trade compliance regulations and processesStrong written and verbal communication skills
- Strategic, Proactive, Creative, Innovative, Collaborative
- Computer Skills. Must have excellent ability managing Microsoft Excel, Power Point, SAP ECC, Optional: SAP Global Trade Services (GTS)
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Trade compliance experience in other countries within Latin America
