Summary

The Large Project Civil Work Design Coordinator serves as the technical leader for civil work (CW) design packages within the Grid Solutions project COE organization. The role is responsible for the successful execution of CW design—including auxiliary services like plumbing and cranes—ensuring committed budget, schedule, and quality targets are met. You will bridge internal design teams, subcontractors, and customers, ensuring all work integrates seamlessly with building permits, procurement, and site construction requirements while adhering to international and local building codes

Main Responsibilities

- Project Leadership: Establish and manage the scope of work, time schedules, and design deliverables. Lead and coordinate the design team and monitor execution progress against short-term plans.
- Design & Engineering: Review and coordinate input data (e.g., soil investigations, heat dissipation, guide drawings), ensure technical consistency, and optimize costs during basic and detailed design phases.
- Risk & Strategy Management: Implement project strategy, manage scope changes, update risk assessments, and proactively generate opportunities to improve project outcomes.
- Sourcing & Procurement: Support procurement by defining technical specifications, managing subcontractor interfaces, reviewing technical offers, and ensuring supplier documentation meets quality standards.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Represent customer interests in technical decisions, manage customer comments, and participate in technical meetings. Coordinate constructability analysis with construction teams.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to EHS requirements, perform design reviews, and maintain compliance with Quality Procedures and GE policies. Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support the "Zero Deviation Plan."

Required Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
- Proven knowledge in concrete structure calculation,

architecture, and geotechnical principles.
- Experience with project technical management processes, particularly in multi-disciplinary, multi-interface environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing externally subcontracted design work packages.
- Proficiency in English; strong technical problem-solving capabilities.
- Willingness to travel worldwide and work in different locations for short-to-medium periods.

Desired Characteristics

- In-depth knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution industry. Prior substation construction experience highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Engineering Management Handbook (EMH) standards and tools (CAD, PDM/DMS).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the company in complex, high-stakes customer environments.
- Proactive mindset regarding safety leadership and technical innovation
