JLL Technologies
JLL is seeking a Senior Google Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. The role requires expertise in infrastructure automation, cloud security, networking, and CI/CD pipelines. This individual will provide hands-on support across GCP compute, container, networking, data, and platform services — including resource provisioning, application deployment support, incident remediation, automation, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and automate solutions that improve the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of infrastructure, with a primary focus on GCP.
- Design, implement, and support enterprise-scale GCP platform services (GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions), applying working knowledge of Azure and AWS where multi-cloud context is needed.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain GCP resources like containers, serverless functions, and databases as per project requirements.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and remediate GCP infrastructure, performance, and security issues using tools like Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging.
- Partner with development teams to build and mature CI/CD pipelines (e.g GitHub Actions), primarily for GCP with support for cross-cloud deployments as needed.
- Use Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management, standardizing deployment patterns across GCP environments.
- Use Rundeck to build and manage operational runbooks and scripted job workflows, enabling self-service automation for routine and repeatable infrastructure tasks.
- Conduct security assessments and enforce best practices across IAM, VPC Service Controls, encryption, and org policies, applying similar principles in other cloud environments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to architect highly available, scalable GCP solutions, factoring in interoperability with Azure/AWS where needed.
- Optimize GCP resource usage and costs using billing reports, recommenders, and committed use discounts, contributing to broader multi-cloud cost efforts.
- Stay current on GCP updates and best practices while maintaining working familiarity with Azure and AWS.
Experience &
Education
- A Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 7 years of cloud engineering experience, with at least 3 years of experience working in Google Cloud environments.
- 3 years of architecture design, implementation, and support of highly distributed setups (ensuring high availability and reliability).
- 2 years of experience migrating on-premises workloads to the public cloud.
Technical Skills &
Competencies
- Strong understanding of GCP infrastructure, automation, and cloud-native architecture, with hands-on experience delivering infrastructure solutions for application teams.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration management.
- Hands-on experience with Rundeck for building scripted automation workflows and operational runbooks to reduce manual intervention.
- Solid understanding of GCP networking (VPC, firewall rules, Cloud DNS, load balancing), security best practices (IAM, org policies), and data privacy requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across GCP compute, networking, and platform services, with the ability to work through issues using internal and external resources.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with application development teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Proven track record of driving technical decisions collaboratively and following through to delivery.
- Strong technical leadership with the ability to guide teams on GCP best practices and cloud-native design.
- Self-starter who works effectively both independently and within a team, requiring minimal direction.
