Purpose of the position
Lead, manage, and ensure full compliance with all Mexican tax obligations for Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, while supporting cross-border and international operations in alignment with U.S. corporate tax policies. This role is the primary tax authority at the property level, acting as liaison with SAT, external advisors, and corporate tax leadership in the United States to protect the organization against tax risk, optimize fiscal outcomes, and maintain the highest standards of regulatory integrity within a multinational luxury hospitality context.
Essential Functions Mexican Tax Compliance Ensure full compliance with all Mexican tax obligations: annual income tax return (ISR), provisional monthly payments, VAT (IVA) filings, lodging tax (ISH), payroll tax withholdings (ISN), and other applicable federal and state tax requirements.
Manage and oversee REPSE compliance and all labor-related tax and regulatory obligations under Mexican law.
Calculate and oversee PTU (employee profit sharing) in strict compliance with the Ley Federal del Trabajo and Ley del ISR; coordinate with HR and Payroll on annual distribution timelines and amounts.
Review, validate, and ensure the accuracy of all tax withholdings on invoices, payroll, and service payments to residents and non-residents, including CFDI 4.0 compliance and SAT timbrado processes.
Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of all IMSS, INFONAVIT, and SBC-related declarations, in coordination with the Payroll function.
International
Operations &
- Cross-Border Transactions Support and review the tax treatment of cross-border transactions, intercompany agreements, management fees, and royalties, ensuring alignment with Mexican transfer pricing rules and U.S. corporate tax policies.
Prepare and maintain transfer pricing documentation and country-by-country reporting requirements applicable to the Mexican entity.
Coordinate with the U.S. Head of Tax on international tax strategy, FATCA/CRS reporting, and cross-border optimization initiatives relevant to Omni’s Mexico operations.
Tax Authority
Relations &
- Audit Management Act as the primary liaison with the SAT (Servicio de Administración Tributaria) and state tax authorities for information requests, audits (visitas domiciliarias, revisiones de gabinete), and administrative proceedings.
Coordinate with external tax advisors and legal counsel to prepare responses, supporting documentation, and legal arguments during tax reviews and controversies.
Maintain a comprehensive tax calendar and ensure zero-deficiency filing of all obligaciones fiscales; escalate material risks to the Finance Director and corporate tax team on a timely basis. Tax Planning &
- Advisory Support tax planning initiatives including investment incentives, deductibility optimization, regional tax benefits, and other strategies applicable to the luxury hospitality and real estate sector in Mexico.
Monitor changes in Mexican tax legislation (CFF, LISR, LIVA, LIMSS, state codes) and assess their operational and financial impact on the property; provide timely guidance to Finance, HR, Legal, and operational leadership.
Prepare tax analysis, memoranda, and risk assessments for the Finance Director and the U.S. corporate tax team, including annual effective tax rate (ETR)
projections and deferred tax calculations.
Internal
Controls &
- Technology Design and maintain tax control frameworks, documentation protocols, and internal audit-ready workpapers to support SOX-aligned controls and Mexican regulatory requirements.
Leverage ERP systems (Opera Cloud PMS integration, SAP or equivalent) and tax reporting platforms to ensure accurate pre-nómina data, CFDI 4.0 timbrado, and fiscal reporting workflows.
Implement and monitor KPIs related to tax compliance efficiency, filing accuracy, and audit readiness; report results quarterly to the Finance Director.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of progressive Mexican tax experience, ideally within the hospitality, real estate, or multinational corporate sector.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Public Accounting (Contaduría Pública), Finance, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
In-depth knowledge of Mexican federal and state tax law (CFF, LISR, LIVA, LIMSS) and hands-on experience with SAT filings, audits, and compliance processes.
Experience with transfer pricing, cross-border transactions, and international tax coordination within a U.S.-affiliated corporate structure.
Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English, with strong written and verbal communication skills for coordination with local and U.S. corporate stakeholders.
Proficiency with ERP and tax reporting systems (SAP or equivalent) and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple filing deadlines and audit processes simultaneously.
Sound professional judgment and integrity, with the ability to act independently as the property’s primary tax authority.
