Under the general supervision of the Metrology Engineer Managing, the Quality Metrology Technician II provides precision inspection and testing services for supplier initial samples in accordance with Shure quality requirements. The role evaluates components used in manufacturing, supports Supplier Quality activities, and assists the Senior Quality Metrology Technician with measurement inspections, documentation, record maintenance, and laboratory administrative functions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct s inspection and testing following inspection protocols or work instructions on metrology lab material submissions according to Shure quality requirements .
- Document s and a rchive s reports and samples according to Shure requirements.
- Utilize s the m etrology l ab workflow management system (RFTM) to retrieve and archive all records and documentation of inspection results .
- Maintain s custodial integrity of m etrology l ab material submissions.
- Perform s basic operator functions using laboratory equipment.
- Document s work instructions and train s quality associates or inspectors as need ed .
- Support s the development of m etrology l ab p rocedures through validation methods to provide data with integrity for any properly recorded submissions .
- Set s up inspection equipment and instruct Incoming Inspectors as required.
- Support s the Metrology Senior Technician to perform mechanical measuring equipment calibration s .
- Support s the c alibration records database maintenance .
- Clean s and maintain s m etrology l ab and equipment .
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Technical degree in technology related field .
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with metrology, m echanical inspection and measuring.
- Ability to use all standard mechanical inspection instruments including but not limited to microscopes, micrometers, comparators, calipers, height gages, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Desire to learn and continuously improve skills and knowledge of metrology and equipment.
- Basic knowledge of the concepts of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
