Colossal Academy | Mérida, Yucatán | Hourly Position

Colossal Academy is looking for an exceptional Art Teacher who can help children develop creativity, technical skills, visual thinking and the confidence to express their own ideas.

We are a small, innovative international school in Mérida inspired by the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Reggio Emilia approaches. Our philosophy combines academic rigor with a deeply human approach to education.

The Role

At Colossal, art is not about producing identical crafts.

Inspired by Reggio Emilia and its concept of the “hundred languages of children,” we see art as one of the fundamental ways children investigate, interpret and communicate their understanding of the world.

Our students should learn how to observe carefully, experiment with materials, develop technical skills, make creative decisions, revise their work and communicate ideas visually.

Students might:
- Draw, paint, sculpt, construct and work with mixed media
- Explore color, line, shape, form, texture and composition




- Develop age-appropriate drawing and observational skills
- Experiment with different materials and artistic techniques
- Study artists, artistic movements and visual traditions from around the world
- Create original work based on their own ideas and investigations
- Use sketchbooks to develop and document ideas
- Design scenery, props, installations and exhibitions
- Connect art with science, history, geography, literature, mathematics and technology
- Present and discuss their work and the work of others
- Participate in interdisciplinary projects and school exhibitions

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong background in visual arts, design, art education or a related field:
- Has experience working with children
- Understands or is interested in Reggio Emilia:
- Believes children are capable of producing thoughtful, sophisticated work
- Can teach real artistic techniques while protecting children's
