The Environmental Safety Technician is responsible for designing, developing, implementing and supervising the organization's environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to protect employees by ensuring that all facilities comply with current regulations.
General Responsibilities
- Develops and administrates all required certifications.
- Leads internal and external audits of customers or governmental agencies.
- Follows-up on corrective and preventive actions of internal/external audits.
- Leads Security Training courses and updates information of different programs.
- Leads the investigation of accidents and incidents in the plant.
- Leads all safety and environmental inspections, evacuations, brigade and administrates all emergency equipment.
- Reviews all environmental impacts and aspects that may involve the area.
- Ensures training to employees on environmental safety practices and procedures.
- Oversees proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Maintains accurate records and documentation related to safety inspections, incidents, and training.
- Stay up-to-date with new and evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices.
- Conducts environmental impact assessments ensuring compliance with environmental permits and licenses.
- Carries out the equipment release process on site.
- Updates security event metrics.
- Develops and manages procedures, activities, analysis, evaluations and studies in relation to legal compliance.
Experience / Qualifications
- Relevant work experience or knowledge of the role.
- Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results.
- Holds a self-accountable to achieving goals and standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
