We are looking for detail-oriented native Japanese and native French speakers to support the development of AI models designed to detect scam and phishing communications. In this role, you will review SMS and email messages, classify them according to detailed annotation guidelines, and help create high-quality training data for machine learning systems used in fraud and scam detection.
This is a fully remote, freelance opportunity for candidates who enjoy language-focused work, have excellent attention to detail, and can consistently apply defined annotation rules.
Tasks
Review SMS and email messages in spreadsheets and classify each message according to established annotation guidelines.
Apply labels accurately and consistently while maintaining high quality standards.
Process approximately 2,500 messages per day, meeting both productivity and quality targets.
Identify ambiguous or edge-case examples and escalate them when necessary.
Participate in regular team calibration sessions and peer reviews (approximately 10% of working time) to ensure annotation consistency across the project.
Follow project documentation, workflows, and data handling procedures at all times.
Communicate proactively with the project team regarding questions, issues, or guideline clarifications.
Requirements
Native-level proficiency in Japanese or French (spoken and written).
Excellent command of the English language.
Ability to work within EMEA or USA time zones.
Excellent reading comprehension and understanding of colloquial language, slang, abbreviations, and regional expressions.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to make accurate, consistent decisions based on detailed guidelines.
Comfortable working with large volumes of repetitive data while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Ability to manage deadlines and achieve daily productivity targets.
Comfortable reviewing content that may include scam attempts, offensive language, profanity, or other sensitive material.
