We are hiring a
**Tax Manager** who will be a member of the México Finance team based in Monterrey, México. This is a position that will require attention to detail, solid financial and tax acumen, ability to think-critically, and work independently and in a team.
The Tax manager will be responsible for the relevant controls over tax filings and supervise the reconciliation of all tax balance sheet accounts. The Tax manager will be the primary point of contact for tax-related questions for both internal and external stakeholders. The role will manage the monthly tax accounting process for consolidation with the U.S. and collaborate closely with accounting managers, payroll, and extended finance teams for statutory financial closes in México. The Tax manager will report directly to the México Group Controller and dotted line with General Tax Director.
**What you will be doing**:
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant domestic and international tax laws and regulations.
- Overseeing the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and update internal policies and procedures accordingly.
- Collaborating with auditors during financial and SOX audits, providing necessary documentation.
- Assisting in transfer pricing documentation and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Managing tax provisions and calculations, including deferred tax assets and liabilities.
- Implementing proper controls to mitigate risks and potential fines from Mexican Tax authorities.
- Conducting internal tax audits to identify any potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Providing guidance and support in resolving any tax-related inquiries or disputes.
- Liaising with government authorities to address tax-related matters and maintain positive relationships.
- Staying updated with changing tax laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Advising on the potential financial impact of tax planning decisions.
**Who you are**:
**Required Skills**:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Evidence of ability to speak and write in advanced English.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Mexico Tax Compliance, with at least 4 years in a managerial role.
- Experience working with U.S.based companies (preferably publicly traded entities)
- Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP-system
**Preferred Skills**:
- Master’s degree in Taxes, preferred.
- Active membership at any organization related to Taxes commissions or committees, preferred.
- Leadership Skills - Strong planning, management, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated experience in developing and leading high performing and self-directed teams. Leads through team empowerment. Maintains, supports, and encourages the Company core values.
- Project Management - Establishes priorities and target dates, acquires vital resources, and coordinates implementation. Seeks feedback and input from key stakeholders.
- Business Knowledge - Knowledgeable in all aspect of the teams’ assigned tasks. Strong working knowledge of most Steelcase functions and industry practices with respect to area of expertise. Strong business acumen.
- Communication Skills - Demonstrates strong presentation skills.
Proactive in building positive relationships among team members and other functions with which the team interacts. Ability to express thoughts and findings clearly and succinctly (both written and orally). Demonstrates ability to facilitate.
