Amazon Director / Chief of Staff – E-Commerce Growth
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Amazon e-commerce expert to join a growing, Amazon-first e-commerce agency as an Amazon Director / Chief of Staff.
This is a hands-on, cross-functional role for someone who understands Amazon at a deep operational and marketing level and can act as the right hand to the founder. You will oversee the quality and execution of Amazon-related work, coordinate a distributed team, manage projects, communicate with clients, and help build the systems and processes needed to scale the business.
The idóneo candidate is not simply an Amazon Ads specialist. We are looking for someone with broad and sophisticated Amazon expertise, including Seller Central, catalog management, Amazon SEO/content, advertising, product detail pages, and the ability to review and identify errors in other team members' work.
Key Responsibilities
Act as the day-to-day right hand to the founder, taking ownership of operational follow-up, project coordination, and quality control.
Oversee Amazon-related projects and ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and according to client expectations.
Review and quality-check the work produced by Amazon specialists, identifying errors, gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement before work reaches the client.
Monitor Amazon Seller Central accounts and confidently navigate the platform, dashboards, tools, catalog structures, and backend functionality.
Manage and oversee sophisticated Amazon catalog structures, including products, variations, parent/child relationships, subcatalogs, listings, and related backend elements.
Evaluate Amazon product detail pages, including titles, bullet points, descriptions, images, infographics, SEO/GEO hierarchy, and overall content quality.
Apply strong knowledge of Amazon's algorithm, ranking factors, search behavior, and e-commerce best practices when reviewing work.
Coordinate projects involving Amazon Ads, Amazon catalog management, UGC, Amazon UGC video production, influencer marketing, Google Ads, and other e-commerce initiatives.
Translate client needs and feedback into clear action items for the internal team and ensure those requirements are properly executed.
Serve as the communication bridge between clients, the founder, Amazon specialists, advertising teams, content/creative teams, and external partners.
Manage and coordinate projects through Asana and internal communication through Slack.
Conduct recurring account audits, identify issues,
assign corrective actions, and follow through until they are resolved.
Build and improve SOPs, templates, workflows, checklists, and recurring processes to create greater consistency and scalability.
Use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Amazon-focused AI platforms to improve efficiency, reporting, monitoring, quality control, and workflows.
Help create AI-powered processes and automations for reporting, inventory monitoring, performance recaps, content recommendations, and other recurring tasks.
Provide project-management oversight of paid search and paid social initiatives, ensuring deliverables stay on track.
Step in on client matters when the founder is unavailable, triaging issues and communicating with clients when necessary.
Proactively identify problems rather than simply reporting them, and work toward implementing practical solutions.
Skills & Qualifications
Must Have
5+ years of professional experience in Amazon, e-commerce, digital marketing, or agency environments.
Deep, hands-on experience with Amazon Seller Central and the ability to confidently work within the platform beyond a surface level.
Strong expertise in Amazon catalog management, including complex catalog structures, parent/child relationships, variations, listings, backend attributes, and product organization.
Strong understanding of Amazon marketing and SEO, including ranking factors, keyword strategy, content hierarchy, and product detail page optimization.
Strong knowledge of Amazon product pages, including titles, bullet points, descriptions, images, infographics, A+ content, and overall conversion optimization.
Experience with Amazon Ads and a strong understanding of how Amazon advertising fits into an overall e-commerce growth strategy.
Seniority and judgment to review, challenge, and correct the work of other Amazon specialists.
Strong project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
Excellent attention to detail and a strong quality-control mindset.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills,
with the ability to communicate fluently and professionally with clients.
Experience working with Asana, Slack, or similar project-management and communication platforms.
Comfortable working independently in a remote, distributed environment.
A strong doer mentality: someone who investigates problems, understands the root cause, and helps implement the solution rather than simply escalating issues.
Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and interested in using AI to build more efficient workflows and systems.
Nice to Have
Experience with Google Ads, paid search, or paid social.
Experience with Amazon DSP.
Experience managing UGC or influencer marketing projects, particularly for Amazon brands.
Experience coordinating Amazon UGC video production.
Knowledge of affiliate marketing, email/SMS, organic social, or retail media.
Experience building SOPs, playbooks, workflows, or process documentation from scratch.
Experience working at a small or growing e-commerce agency where you have worn multiple hats.
Experience managing external agencies or distributed international teams.
Familiarity with Amazon-focused AI tools and platforms.
Previous experience in a Chief of Staff, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Account Manager, or similar cross-functional role.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a true Amazon expert with strong project-management and operational skills. You should be comfortable going deep into Seller Central, understanding complex catalog structures, reviewing Amazon Ads and content work, identifying mistakes, and explaining what needs to be fixed.
At the same time, you should be highly organized and comfortable managing people, projects, clients, and competing priorities. This is not a role for someone who only specializes in one area of Amazon. We need someone with a broad understanding of the Amazon ecosystem who can connect the dots between catalog, advertising, content, UGC, client requirements, and overall e-commerce performance.
You should be comfortable taking ownership, challenging work when something is not correct, communicating clearly with both clients and internal teams, and creating structure where processes are still evolving.
Work Schedule & Location
Part-time: 20 hours per week
Fully remote
Minimum 5 hours of live overlap with US Pacific Time, approximately 8:00 AM–1:00 PM PT and additional hours can be completed asynchronously
Potential opportunity to transition into a full-time position as the business continues to grow
