Ciudad de México

About the roleWe are an AWS Partner delivering cloud, data, and AI solutions to customers across Mexico, Colombia, and the United States. With the AWS México (Central) Region now live, our customers are moving data platforms and AI workloads in-country for the first time — and we need an architect who can design those platforms and stand in front of the customer while doing it.

This is a hands-on, client-facing architecture role. You will own the technical design of data and AI solutions from discovery through delivery: shaping the architecture, defending it in front of a customer's technical leadership, and staying involved while the engineering team builds it. You will work directly with our AWS Partner Development and Partner Solutions Architect contacts, with access to funding programs, Well-Architected reviews, and the AWS certification path.

If you want to spend your time on architecture and customer conversations rather than ticket queues, this role is built for that.

What you'll do

- Design end-to-end data and AI architectures on AWS — data lakes, lakehouses, streaming pipelines, warehouses, and generative AI applications — aligned to the AWS Well-Architected Framework
- Lead technical discovery sessions with customer stakeholders, translating business problems into architecture, scope, and effort estimates
- Support pre-sales: build solution proposals, reference architectures, cost models, and proof-of-concepts that win deals
- Run Well-Architected Reviews and migration assessments; produce findings and remediation roadmaps customers actually act on
- Own the technical narrative in customer presentations, from engineering teams up to CTO and CDO level
- Guide delivery teams during implementation — design reviews, architectural decisions, unblocking engineers, and quality gates

- Model and optimize AWS cost for data and AI workloads, and defend those numbers to the customer's finance stakeholders
- Contribute to reusable accelerators, internal reference architectures, and practice IP
- Work alongside AWS Partner teams on joint opportunities, funding requests, and competency evidence

What you needExperience

- 4–7 years in cloud engineering or architecture, with at least 2 years designing solutions on AWS
- Demonstrated production experience building data platforms on AWS — not just certification knowledge
- Direct client-facing experience: you have run technical workshops, presented architecture to stakeholders, and handled hard questions in the room

Technical

- Data services: S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, EMR, Lake Formation, Kinesis or MSK, and open table formats (Apache Iceberg, Delta, Hudi)
- AI/ML services: Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker; practical exposure to RAG patterns, vector stores (OpenSearch, Aurora pgvector, Kendra), and prompt/model evaluation
- Core AWS: IAM, VPC design, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, CloudWatch, Organizations, Control Tower
- Data engineering fundamentals: SQL, Python or PySpark, dimensional and lakehouse modeling, batch and streaming patterns
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform or AWS CDK, with CI/CD pipeline experience
- Governance and security: data cataloging, lineage, access control, encryption, and familiarity with LFPDPPP (Mexico), plus awareness of GDPR/HIPAA/SOC 2 where customers require it

Certification

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03) required
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (SAP-C02) strongly preferred
- AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate or Machine Learning Engineer – Associate is a meaningful plus

Language

- Professional working English (C1) — required. You will present to and write for US-based customers.
- Native or fluent Spanish for Mexican and Colombian accounts

Location and work authorization

- Based in or around Mexico City, legally authorized to work in Mexico
- Able to work core hours overlapping US Central and Eastern time zones
- Available for occasional on-site client visits and team sessions in CDMX

Nice to have
- Experience at an AWS Partner, consultancy, or systems integrator
- Prior work on AWS Competency or Foundational Technical Review (FTR) submissions
- Databricks, Snowflake, or dbt experience alongside native AWS services
- Exposure to Azure or GCP data stacks for multi-cloud conversations
- Financial services, retail, or manufacturing domain experience in the Mexican market
- Public technical contributions — blog posts, meetup talks, open source, AWS Community Builder

What we offer
- Fully remote work with a CDMX-based team and optional coworking access
- All AWS certification costs covered, plus dedicated study time and exam attempts
- Direct engagement with AWS Partner teams, including re:Invent and AWS Summit opportunities
- Statutory Mexican benefits: IMSS, INFONAVIT, aguinaldo, vacation premium, and PTU
- Private major medical insurance (protegido de gastos médicos mayores)
- Annual training and conference budget
- Genuine architecture ownership — you design it, you present it, you see it shipped
