ConMet's Monterrey, Mexico manufacturing site is seeking a Tooling Engineer to support our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team.
In this role, you will design, develop, and improve tooling, fixtures, and inspection solutions that support casting, machining, and manufacturing operations.
You will collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, maintenance, and suppliers to improve manufacturability, support new product launches, and ensure tooling meets quality, cost, and timing requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and improve tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids for production processesSupport new product development and process changes with tooling concepts and implementationApply design for manufacturability (DFM) principles to improve product and process standardizationTroubleshoot tooling and process issues; lead root‐cause analysis as neededCollaborate with cross‐functional teams to ensure tooling readiness and reliabilityReview part and process requirements to ensure tooling meets dimensional, functional, and safety standardsCoordinate tooling trials, validation, run‐off, and production launch supportMaintain drawings, BOMs, and technical records related to tooling systemsSupport quoting, tooling estimates, vendor selection, and supplier coordinationParticipate in continuous improvement projects focused on cost, quality, safety, throughput, and scrap reductionQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field5+ years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, fixture design, or manufacturing engineeringKnowledge of manufacturing processes,



materials, machining, casting, assembly, and inspection methodsAbility to interpret engineering drawings and understand GD&TStrong; problem‐solving, communication, and project management skillsExcellent communication, project management, and cross‐functional collaboration skillsExperience working in a high‐volume manufacturing environment preferredAbility and willingness to travelPreferred ExperienceExperience with casting, machining, trim, or inspection fixture designFamiliarity with APQP, validation, and launch readiness processesExposure to supplier coordination, tooling procurement, or quotation supportExperience supporting continuous improvement or lean manufacturing initiativesEnglish fluency is requiredWhat Success Looks LikeTooling solutions are delivered on time and support smooth production launchesTooling issues are resolved quickly through strong technical support and root‐cause analysisManufacturing teams have reliable, efficient tools that improve throughput and consistencyContinuous improvement efforts lead to measurable gains in cost, quality, and productivityWhy ConMetAt ConMet, you'll be part of a team committed to innovation, quality, and operational excellence.
