**Position summary**:
The 1,000 Landscapes for One Billion people is a perfect example of how the Rainforest Alliance uses alliances to deliver on our mission. 1000L is a coalition that is working together to accelerate landscape efforts to sustain and restore ecosystems, build rural prosperity and confront climate change. The coalition is a group of over 20+ organizations led by EcoAgriculture Partners with the Rainforest Alliance serving as a key supporting partner. 1000L drives impact by bring together efforts to deliver sustainable landscape solutions by aligning best practices for integrated landscape management, developing tools, resources and services around technology, capacity and finance, and catalyzing connections necessary to inspire change for landscape partnerships to achieve their visions.
The Lead, 1000L, will work to ensure a cohesive, simple, effective and viable 1000L program by connecting, providing feedback, and clarifying roles and responsibilities across Rainforest Alliance departments involved in 1000L. The Lead, 1000L, leads on driving producer centricity for the program, programmatic integration with other RA offerings, and scaling 1000L within the Thriving Landscapes portfolio. The Lead also ensures there is maximized alignment creation, coordination, and continuous communication between Rainforest Alliance’s integral program teams. The lead will be a key spokesperson for the 1000L initiative, both internally and externally, supporting the EcoAgriculture team. This includes, but not limited to actively participating in the 1000L coalition building, representing the Rainforest Alliance in strategic conversations, fundraising activities, and other actions necessary to deliver the goals of the 1000L program.
The Lead will coordinate closely with a multi-disciplinary,
international group of specialists and teams across the organization. The Lead will also support adjacent initiatives such as Regen10 that are necessary to drive the broader 1000L impact.
Key success factors for this role include proposal writing expertise, the ability to navigate critical cross-departmental, and external alliance growth opportunities as well as having the expertise and communication style to positively influence these collaborations.
**Responsibilities**:
- The Rainforest Alliance’s Core Values are Impact, Change, Collaboration, Openness and Trust and as such they form the basis of the behaviours we demonstrate;
- Lead the1000L program strategy ensuring it supports Rainforest Alliance in achieving its 2030 Strategy, promoting speed, scale and simplification in design, implementation, and impact creation;
- Ensure that 1000L has the necessary core elements for scaling and is producer centric, which include a clear value proposition, governance model,, a strategic plan and operating model, revenue and fundraising model, assurance and dispute resolution mechanisms, MERL framework with KPIs and reporting processes, and a claims framework;
- Ensure 1000L works in close collaboration with Rainforest Alliance’s other Frameworks and Landscapes Programs, and across broader programs, so that their contribution to the 2030 strategy is integrated;
- Work closely with departments across the Rainforest Alliance to align and coordinate for the successful 1000L implementation, e.g., on regional design and implementation, corporate engagement and partnerships; with programmatic specialists, marketing and communication, institutional fundraising, etc;
- Represent Rainforest Alliance at key events and in key meetings, presentations, policy forums and roundtables to promote the impact created through 1000L;
- Cultivate a culture of positive and proactive collaboration, communicate widely and inclusively across the organization, clearly demonstrating taking broad perspectives into consideration, and embed continuous learning and simplification into all aspects of programmatic work; and
- Other duties, as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Biology, Social Sciences, or related field; master’s degree preferred;
- At least 10 years of relevant work experience with integrated landscape management in the tropical community forestry or agriculture sectors;
- At least 5 years of demonstrable experience working with coalition or programs with a diverse stakeholder engagement needs;
- Extraordinary commitment, energy, and a positive approach;
- Knowledge of sustainable development issues and commitment to Rainforest Alliance’s goals of strengthening livelihoods and securing human rights; conserving forests and other high-value ecosystems; restoring production systems and rural landscapes; and mitigating climate change and building climate resilience;
- Sound project management and grant writing experience;
